It depends on the price for the drugs, if the price is so high and lot of people in the development countries cannot afford, then the death rate is still high.

Maybe most cinema will be closed down after the pandemic and we just watching Netflix at home.[/quote]
Like most drugs, USA will pay the most and other countries will benefit from lower prices (to varying degrees). Take the headline with a grain of salt, as it is not an easy calculation to incorporate the cost of \"R&D\" and all of the failed drugs/dry holes that we never hear about. It is often never really clear whether the press articles have done sensible calculations to adjust for that.

Why is it so difficult to provide a little bit more information on the cases?

We are in a bipolar situation, most will be ok even if infected but a significant segment of the population will be extremely vulnerable and the challenge is how as a society we can continue taking care of the vulnerable minority.

That's exactly what we have been told to expect. Andemic mah.
As for how society can take care of the vulnerable... well 🤷 ... andemic mah.

Today there’s an article in Zaobao where one expert claimed that if not for the high vaccination rate, we would have suffered a monthly death rate of 500 ?!?!

I was wondering what if one day we really reach 500 deaths in a month? What is this expert is going to say then?

Anyway, even if we remove all the PCR tests, our death rate is still about 0.2% of the daily new cases. We are likely to reach the 10,000 mark very soon (by the next doubling).

When OYK said endemic living, he mentioned that we should expect 3200 new cases daily (during one of the earlier MTF conferences). Then he increased the figure to 5000. There is no scientific principle to say the daily rate must stop at 5000.

OYK never mentioned what action would be taken when the death rate crosses 500 or even 1000 per month.

Seems like this was a fairly balanced article about the issues schools/teachers are facing. With today's announcements, hopefully HBL is a thing of the past, and most students won't miss time next year with no QO, LOA, etc. Still not clear to me whether the full syllabus will be back in PSLE next year (seems like there is a \"backlog\" at pretty much every grade level).

BTW, with the outage it looks like Friday's posts were lost -- obviously not a problem. Maybe it's a sign I should quit replying some topics. :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

Yes, the outage affected pms too, cos some messages I received & read then had disappeared without a trace! (Fortunately, I had a copy offline, cos I'd like to reply to them 😛 )

Am getting confused; for those ART positive and no symptoms, just ART on Day 3 (ie 72 hours) or daily until negative, then taken as ok and no need to do a doctor?

Yes, that’s what I interpret from today’s announcement.

So if u no symptoms, on Day 3 u ART again and if -ve, tell your company (they may request evidence) and you can go back to work. Now all ownself police. MOH no time and no point to jaga every single case.

Based on the announcement, I just hope prices of ART kits would become more affordable as we will need them as much as we need the mask.

The upcoming distribution of 10 ART kits won’t last very long if one is infected …
