sorrry Resilience I have no experience with the transfer. Wishing your DD the very best. I would say only the school can advise on how many students get to transfer. SCGS is a small school so the numbers won’t be very large. However, I would not be upset with the OLP at all - is your DD keen on EJC? On the OLP, your DD can enrol in any top JC if she does well for O levels so it is a good position to be in as well.

*Wanting to transfer from O-level to IP track*

My DD is Sec 2 now. She is putting in a lot of effort and literally pulling out all stops to excel in her studies, in order to try to transfer from O-level track to IP. Could I ask for some advice?

        1. When will interview take place?

        2. What can I do as a parent to help out, for e.g. at interview stage perhaps?

        3. How many kids get accepted yearly?

        4. Any form of advice from anyone is most appreciated!

        thank you very much!
        By now,
believed that school SCGS would have asked her Sec 2 students to submit their next new academic year (2022) Sec 3 subject combination !

If you are seriously keen in transferring / crossing over from O-level to IP track (Year 5 in Eunoia Junior College),

can inform your SCGS Vice-Principal (in charge of Academic affair) now, to prep her mentally before hand first. After all, mid year exam already over and Sec 2 Report card

(inside contained grades for every single subject + comments written by class Form Teacher)

        by now
would have been returned back to the students. Then, VP will inform you when roughly to expect interview.

But make sure that IP is really what your daughter truly wants for herself, if she is strongly convinced or have the personal conviction that
IP curriculum ultimately indeed will benefit her much more than the O-level ! She has to take personal responsibility, in whichever track she is in.

        Finally,

One last important question, please ask your daughter -

You sure you don't want to go Polytechnic, to pursue your area of passion (interests) ?

        If she answer you,
\"No, mom. I totally not interested at all in Polytechnic, \", ok, then let her go IP, because she already reach end of Sec 2, no longer PSLE kid, have a mind of her own.

        Once she go IP,
look forward all the way to EJC. Don't look back anymore. Don't regret, whatever future bring

Hi, my daughter is in P6 this year and she is very interested in science. Can I ask if SCGS has any dedicated science/STEM/maths like enrichment classes or talent development program? If so, is it opened to non-DSA students? Do the students get training for Olympiad, or be selected to participate in Olympiads? I tried to check the website but cannot really find anything relevant, so would like to check if anyone already in the school is able to help. I'm an old girl of SCGS and would of course like my girl to go into SCGS, but if there is no dedicated science training program, then may have to give SC a pass 😔 Thanks in advance!

new Principal from SST coming over. Will she bring her portable skill over, convert SCGS into a second SST more hands on study culture environment ?

              That's good, isn't it?
Can groom more SCGS girls into future scientists and technologists !

See, in SST itself, there are so many more boys studying there, with fewer girls present. Now that she has come over from SST to join SCGS, she has the lee-way to groom our SCGS girls, like another 2nd SST, in both the combined (IP and the O level ) track, concurrently, if she wants to. Well, as a new Principal, I believe she will lead and guide the SCGS girls, to learn and approach Science exploratory discipline, in a far more interesting lively manner, away from the old, traditional MOE syllabus mindset way of doing things.

              Will she,
              for example,

allow our SCGS girls to take on an extra new \"Applied\" Science subject at GCE \"O\" level, in the same identical manner, as what the SST students (O-level) are currently doing now ?

              In SST,
she is the one that set maximum Total 8 subjects allowed, in the O-level National exam, for all SST students. The number 8, is inclusive of the \"Applied\" Science subject.

              However,
over here inside SCGS, our maximum Total number of subjects permitted at O-level is not 8, but can be 9 or even 10 in some cases, under rare, unique condition.

Well, Principal(s) from both (Catholic High and St Nick) can synergize with her, work closely together, to see
if any new changes need to be incorporated into both the current existing (IP and OP) curriculum for Science and Technology, at (St Nick & Catholic High), with her coming on board, come 2022 in a few months soon, the next new academic year.

                Hello

My daughter just completed PSLE. SCGS is one of my top choices because it offers Tamil and the distance from home. I would like to know more about the Tamil subject in SCGS sec. Anyone with kids taking Tamil here please share your experience and advice.
Also, my daughter is passionate about dance. She is in ballet but has completed grade 4 and pursuing grade 5 now with Sylvia Mccully Dancing school. Is it tough to enter the dance CCA in SCGS?
Do girls from other schools blend in easily?
                Would appreciate any advice.
                Thank you

                  Hi,

My DD is in secondary 3 this year. She was from another primary school and had no problem finding friends. In IP classes, majority of the girls are from other secondary schools. There were about 6-7 girls from SC Primary when she was in secondary 1. In general, there are a lot more SC Primary girls in O level classes because of the affiliation.

During my DD’s year, there were 12 girls (out of about 60-70) admitted into Dance CCA. They accepted more student in her year compared to 7-10 in subsequent years. SC Primary girls, who were in the dance CCA, get better chance at audition as the instructor is the same. You can PM if you have further questions.

Hi, I have a few questions regarding subject combinations in Sec 3 IP.

                    1) I heard double science is the most popular subject combinations. Is this so? Are there still 2 classes each for triple and double Science classes?
                    2) My daughter is equally good in Physics and Biology and is indifferent which one to pursue if she go for Double Science. She is still uncertain of her future path yet. As such, should she take Physics or Biology?
                    3) How are the study hours like for Sec 3 & 4? I am thinking of asking her to try opt for Triple Science but am worried that 9 subjects might be tough to manage given she is currently taking Higher Chinese and I was told she is required to take Higher Chinese for O Level. She has regular CCA on Tues and Thurs as well as her extra enrichment classes outside school.
                    4) If she were to take Triple Science, other than the usual curriculum, are there other commitments outside school hours? And will there be a lot more projects compared to Sec 2?
                    5) Passion Pursuit - Is this taking place outside school hours? What is the Liberal Arts Academy about?

Hoping to hear inputs from parents or SCGS girls currently in upper Sec IP.

                    Thanks.

                      Hi,
There are 2 teachers for Tamil language. Both Mother tongue and Higher Mother tongue Language are available in SCGS.
Since the number of students who take Tamil Language is very less(less than 20),the students will get individual attention from the teachers. Moreover, they will get enough opportunities to participate in Tamil language competitions.

Dance CCA is very popular in SCGS.A lot of students, including those who came from SC primary, will be auditioning for the CCA so it is quite hard to get in.Since SC dance is ballet based, your daughter might get in since she’s trained in that.

As for as IP is concerned , the students are from different schools unlike O levels where many students come from SC Primary.
During the first week, the students will be having Orientation and the OG group will have students from different classes & they will mingle with everyone across the level.

For info only. My DH met a friend whose DD took Lit in EJC and was very impressed with the quality of the Lit teachers there. So for those who enjoy Lit, can consider taking Lit at EJC.
