If all behave well during this period..maybe can have Christmas/CNY celebrations, who knows right..

The thing is that there is no solution in sight now. Last year, the hope was that there would be very effective vaccines, so \"behaving well\" would mean fewer cases in the future, and fewer deaths. But the current situation is different - we stay home now, then if we relax before Christmas, the spike in cases will come at Christmas. We stay home till CNY, then relax, the spike will come then. We stay home till Easter... Are we supposed to wait till that perfect vaccine or cure is found?

Yes that's what I was thinking..
..after relaxed for Xmas/CNY it may up again..coz many are tired mah..so give some time catch breath then .... but our frontliners must also seize the opportunity to rest as well before the next.. at least from today's sharing we feel more confidence with the vaccine and thankful for it.. I think probably better vaccine or cure can save us ? I m not sure.. think another worry maybe how often we could catch the virus after recovered? Will the 2nd or subsequent time of catching virus pushes us to the vulnerable group etc etc

Ever wonder why knowing the vaccine is not useful in preventing spread, the big pharma are not doing further research to refine the vaccine? But are just so eager to continue to sell their vaccine as a booster.
Lol more scared of our people. Actually true..go China I feel safer in a way .

Ma'am, China's not so safe any more. You've gotta spend your Christmas and CNY here. 😓

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/asia/flights-cancelled-schools-closed-china-fights-new-covid-19-outbreak-2258566?cid=FBcna&fbclid=IwAR0l2767Q1ogjcMxPBu70MSUkTTnbJIcZpAI24nm7emJkbDLrFA0ycoYkxs

How to go to China? They will quarantine us for 21 days. And I saw some Youtube videos - at one stage, China seemed to be conducting daily PCR tests on persons under quarantine! And if you get Covid, you'll be remanded at a Chinese hospital.....right? A holiday there doesn't seem feasible. Otherwise I'd be the 1st to wanna go!!
I say only ..think we dare to go out meh..

I know we can’t stay “closed” forever because retail and F&B will be badly affected.

But with our “opening”, we are now faced with an overwhelmed hospital system, high death rate every day, yet we still need to fork out $640mil to support the retail and F&B businesses??

死了这么多人还要出钱,真是赔了夫人又折兵。

Oh, hope you and your hubby have fully recovered from the more serious symptoms.

Pardon me for asking , if you dont mind sharing the below , want to get a picture, even though each body is different.
How long from start of symptoms till you recovered? And the severe symptoms, how long did they last?
Hope the feeling of fatigue, aches is all gone fully.
Was it home recovery or in any of the facilities?

I know of 4 in my friend circle ( in US/India) who still have extreme fatigue/joint/pain/ headaches/brain fog after covid ( all got late last year, early this year - pre vaccination) . They cant even get back to 80% normal routine. The ones who got later post vaccination are assymptomatic/very mild sore throat/cough ( tested as close contact was positive) . Imho, vaccination is helping the severity of Covid19

I took Moderna, my husband took Pfizer. My symptoms are milder than his, his earlier symptoms included high fever 38.x and bad sore throat such that he said even swallowing air was painful. My fever was 37.x and sore throat was mild too. Our fever, sore throat, fatigue, body aches are more or less gone after 1+ weeks. My concern is actually our loss of smell and affected taste buds, which we do not know when they will return, or will they ever return :((

We are both on home recovery programme.

Thank you for sharing. Must have been a pretty tense time for you.
My nephew had it, he was asymptomatic , that itself was worrying. So to have a full blown flu symptoms and knowing it is Covid, and the situation in Sinagpore, it must have been terrifying.

I had Influenza (Type A I think) 5 years ago and boy it was nothing like the usual cold, sore, throat fever. All that and extreme tiredness, head ache and bone ache/joint pain, that even falling asleep was tough . 4-5 days of fever 39-40. It took another week to get back to routine.

I would probably be concerned about the loss of smell too but it is reported most people who had lost sense of smell/taste show regain 3-4 weeks, and 98% within six months. The stats are on your side. Dont worry. Fingers crossed you two get back to 100 % normal soon.

Thanks for the info..hope both you and your hubby get back the taste buds soon. Are you able to cook or have someone cook for you both or call for delivery? It sounds so cham  luckily all going to be over soon.

...
You can be having high fever, no voice, rashes, whole body ache, no smell, no taste, etc. you will still fall under mild symptoms.

We are only 1-2 weeks into our infection, so far they have not returned. I googled, it appears that abt 40% of the infected people have lost their smell, some of them still have not recovered their senses after a year, a proportion has a warped sense of odour such that normal delightful smell becomes unpleasant odour.

These are not “mild” COVID symptoms, as what MOH, their experts and our media want us to believe! And how about long COVID, which we still do not know?

Be safe.

Very thankful for your forthright sharing here. It’s our first hearing fr yr 1st hand account. Reminds us to be always mindful & take extra care not to land ourselves catching the virus but if we do, there’s hope for recovery. Just that things will be different.

Pray that your fever, sore throat & fatigue will subside and recover well fr body aches. Take time to recover & wait for the moment you can enjoy yr sense of smell & tastes.

I’ll brace myself & family & not let our guard down, even with booster jabs. I often remind myself, at my age, things can go downhill very fast if I got ill. Will stay vigilant.

Hope your family & friends giving you good support whilst you both recover. Thank you again for sharing. Lots of hugs 🤗

Thank you Sun_2010, ChiefKiasu, MrsKiasu, Esteema for your comforting words, really appreciated them!

MrsKiasu, not so cham, I cook at home everyday. Haha now don’t need to put much sauce as can’t taste anyway so food is healthier. If run out of food can easily call delivery or order grocery. It’s great it is so convenient in Singapore! Looking at the bright side, perhaps we do not need booster for many months to come?

My company doctor told my infected colleagues that he will be immune from Covid 19 for 180 days after he has recovered and he still has to take the booster six (06) months later.
