It has gotten so bad that every time a parent makes a complaint, they have to hire a lawyer to be present to help the school defend the case.
That means, when parents want to complain they have to talk to the school lawyer first.
I mean, this is portrayed in the movie. -
The doctor parent pressured his 2 kids to study long hours so that they can achieve good results and go to a good high school and become a doctor like himself.
Sounds good. But the elder kid protested and changed to a music school instead, as his ambition was to become a musician. The doctor parent then criticised the music teacher for inspiring his son in the wrong way.

Episode 5
This episode reflects on the oppression and face-saving culture in Japanese society inspite of seemingly amiable relationship on the surface.
A school principal asked the Board of Education’s lawyer to help handle a parent’s complaint case.
During the meeting the parent said that her son’s face was swollen. She claimed that it was the male teacher who slapped her DS, when her son refused to go back after school hours as he needed to search for his water colour painting kit. Principal agreed to investigate.
When the male teacher was approached, he denied that he had beaten the pupil, though admitted asking the child to go back home.
When parent was approached to ask for an interview with her son, she refused saying it was too traumatic for DS and stormed out of the meeting.
Lawyer told Principal that this is a classic case of 2 testimonies which are totally opposite and suggested that the Court is the best place to settle such differences.
Principal declined but secretly leaked out that parent’s groundless complaint to gossip tabloid which criticised such behaviour and labelled her as a Monster Parent.
Other parents in school would stare at the Monster Parent and ex-communicated her and demanded that Monster Parent should not be in school.
Feeling the pressure, the "Monster Parent" agreed to withdraw her complaint after Principal talked to her. She then said that her son lied that teacher slapped him. Principal quickly had a meeting with all parents to say that everything was settled, it was a misunderstanding.
Another parent whose DS saw the actual slapping incident confided with lawyer that her son witnessed the teacher slapping the boy.
Lawyer approached Principal, and confronted her to ask why she knew about the teacher’s fault and yet covered it up. Principal challenged lawyer telling her that the lawyer should use the law to find the truth and not just jump to conclusion. Lawyer said that the truth is not in the law, the truth is in the heart. Principal said she thought she could have been good friend with lawyer, but after what had happened it was not possible. Lawyer said she thought so too.
Lawyer went to Board of Education to tender her resignation, but the Head told her that it would be a responsible thing if she continue working.
Lawyer’s colleague also showed her news that the particular Principal suddenly tendered her resignation.
