Same for RGS, RJC is partner JC for RGS, for those RGS who eventually do o level, they have no affiliation to any JC. However, understand that for both NYGH and RGS, no who did o level are very few, 20+ odd for each cohort each year.

Sorry now I am confused. Is there still a RJC? Don't RGS girls go to RI for Year 5 and 6?

Yes, all Rgs girl go to RI in year 5 and 6 …

Today, it is called RI, not RJC anymore.

What I heard from my friends seem to be they will usually retain the student for another year if they cannot be promoted. Asking them to leave the school tbh would be quite rare. I know they used to have an olevel class but am not sure if they still provide it nowadays.

I remember when I attended RGS DSA briefing a few years back, the statistic given was less than 30 has exited RGS since the introduction of IP program in RGS. Not 20+ per year definitely.

Regarding IP dropout rate, ST reported that roughly around 6% of 4000 IP students exit the program midway through. That’s about 240 per year.

If RGS has only fewer than 30 IP dropouts in history since the introduction of IP, ohh…. then it’s a pretty amazing achievement

I think maybe swc is saying 30 dropped out of RGS instead of exited RGS IP? I recall reading an article years ago about DSA IP students having to take o levels, probably due to poor results and then didn’t perform well in the Os.

But for these 6% dropout, assuming before Sec 4, surely they will receive some tutoring on the o levels syllabus right? Actually how different exactly is O levels and IP syllabus?[/quote]What is the difference between dropping out of RGS and exiting RGS IP program?

If 30 dropped out RGS then how many RGS girls exited IP?

Let’s say a sec 2 student couldn’t cope with IP and decided to go aboard to further studies, this is classified as exiting the IP program?

To me, I would classify this as “exiting the program”.
But I think, to the school, this would not be classified as exiting the program. Because if they are counting these, how can there be fewer than 30 since 2006? I think they are only counting those that have been made to leave. And this would be a small number.

And quoting the number for those made to leave, is also not wrong from an open house / publicity point of view, because the school cant control those who leave on their own (struggling or not). Clearly the school thinks they are allowed to stay (same year or promote) but they chose to leave.

Hi all bringing back the questions that i have posted earlier in this thread with regards to placement of school choices but it didnt seems very applicable at that point in time. In lieu of the result release tomorrow its now the time to seek your opinions . Based on prelim results of AL 13 and we are staying at Hougang area. Heres the few schools that we are looking at with PLMGS ranked the desired school .

                  PLMGS COP ( 8 -11 )
                  CHIJ SJC COP ( 9 - 13 )
                  Presbyterian COP ( 8 -13 )
                  Holy Innocents COP( 10-15 )

Q1) Should the PSLE results remains at AL13 should we even try to put a placing for PLMGS since the COP is 11 ?

Q2) Assuming that we go ahead and place PLMGS as 1st choice in the hope that this year COP is higher its still a risk to take and so 2nd school choice becomes crucial , in my case i should perharps put Holy Innocents as 2nd choice in order to at least secure a sure place at Holy with COP at 15 ?

Q3) Have heard not so good feedback from friends on CHIJ SJC , have discussed with my child but she doesnt seems affected by the negative comments .

We have watched the open house for the school above .

Hoping to score some pointers or gain more insight and sharings from the experienced parents here .

                  Thank you so much .

It’s time we move on as this post by CCK2008 is full of errors. This post is somewhat confusing everyone, because of his other child that goes to NYGH. What he wrote was for NYGH. RGS girls goes to RI and there is NO O-levels in RGS.

Q1. Yes. You should put that as first choice.

Q2. You could put COP 12/13/14 as your 2nd-4th choices, if you like. COP 15 can be your 5th, and another for one for 6th as a safety net.

                      Q3. I didn’t understand this question.

Hi zeal mummy thank you so much for responding.

I am full of anxiety and questions on the placementof school choices and so overwhelmed with the information shared in this thread as i read on . My concern is pretty trival as compared to some of the concerns as mentioned , is how to work around the school choices in the best interest of my child .

Q2) First of all it somehwhat felt comforting to read your reply as you made the choices so promising perharps you are stronger in your thoughts and experience. Am i being too over concerned here , the reason why holy innocents is placed 2nd is so that i can be sure i will endup getting into my 2nd choice ( holy innocents ) and not try my luck again and again putting schools withCOP 12/13/14 as 2 ,3 ,4 . Holy Innocent at 5th placing is gona be a challegne eventually and i may end up with no shcools as compared to somone who has placed Holy innocents as 1st and me @ 5th placing ? Correct me if i,m wrong

                        3) My apology ‘the school does not have good review’ what is your take on this school ? I have a friend who mentioned that CHIJ SJC is not an ideal choice and a neighbour who also shared similar view . As mentioned we have watched the virtual open house of all the schools above. PLMGS scored points as first no doubt and my gut feel 2nd choice is a tie breaker between presbyterain and CHIJ SJC . Hence i would like to gather some comments / feedback here with regards to CHIJ SJC maybe exisitng students or parents who has child in this school will be able to do some sharings as i am being netural here . My child has nil feedback on both schools when i asked her . Just wanting to know more information which will greatly aid in my choices .

Thank you all. Appreciate all inputs
