      Hi all ,

My dd too has got AL8+D and very keen to apply DHS as her 1st choice. But thinking about those DSA applicants and we do not have info on the rough number of S1 intake there , so it is extremely difficult to decide on it. Please help!
S1 intake for DHS is slightly more than 300 of which probably 25-30% of the cohort is admitted via DSA.

Agree with you all, putting it as first choice will give you the best chance. All the best and hope your child gets her ideal school!

          Thank you! šŸ™

My daughter scored 8(M) and has affliation to NYGH whose indicative COP is 8(M) for affliated students. May i ask what are her chances? Do affliated students get priority over other students who scored better AL scores? Appreciate any insights.
I think you should have been informed about the AMR. If the AMR is 8M, then you put nygh as first choice, and the total number of nyps who put nygh as first choice is within the quota, then you should get in. If quota set aside for nyps who put nygh as first choice, is filled by 8D and better, then you will not get in.

Do affliated students get priority over other students who scored better AL scores?
Nygh sets aside a fixed number of vacancies for the nyps students, this number is according to the percentage dictated by MOE. This percentage thing is the same as 2019 and 2020 psle.

There's no need to forget DHS based on DSA intake. Most IP schools will have a similar DSA intake.

If unsuccessful at DHS, Chung Cheng High Main (AL11(M)) is a SAP/O-Level school nearby you can try if your child is interested in Chinese.

                Good luck!

Last year COP for both RGS and NYHS = 261 but why the AL COP is 6 and 7M respectively and not both 6? Is 7M due to affiliation and we should assume 6 for non affiliated kids?

Agree about the importance of Chinese... same as what I have been telling my kids.
Jim Roger's younger DD is in class 111 or 112? Students in those 2 classes are all aiming for MSG = 1.00.

My DD said it is 103, 203 next year. She said 101, 112 are elective program/talent prog classes, 102 and 103 are pure GEP students who DSA in. For those GEP students who got in through PSLE score , same as them in normal classes total 8 classes.

She uses å°čœœčœ‚ as her chinese written name! Her english name is short formed Bee Roger, her bigger sister in HCJC is called Happy Roger.

May I know what classes were the DSA students (academic) allocated to last year? mainstream pupils[/quote]Besides these 4 classes, the rest of DSA like bilingual, sports etc joined the common classes as the rest who got in through PSLE. My younger DD is one of them who got in through psle result. This stays on for sec 1 and 2, will be re-mix again in sec 3 based on subject selection and their merit. I don't remember there is any special class in RGS when my elder DD got in 3 years back, RGS mixed them together.

RGS and NYGH were both 261 in 2019 PSLE (2020 Sec 1). In 2020 PSLE (2021 Sec 1), RGS = 260, NYGH = 259. The NYGH 259 includes any combination of HCL bonus points (259+0, 258+1, 257+2, 256+3) and the HCL bonus points do not transfer over to the AL system and PSLE score on the four main subjects.

There are other (potential) issues with trying to tie the Indicative AL COPs and Actual t-score COPs together. Maybe someone else will entertain you on this topic. Fortunately or unfortunately, I got out of that business a couple of months ago.

This is because some of those who entered nygh would have added the 1-3 points for HCL, meaning their t score before HCL bonus point could be as low as 258.
