Which is logical for AL8 below?

          OPTION A
          1) ACSI-IP (COP 7)
          2) SJI-IP (COP šŸ˜Ž
          3) ACSI-O (unaffiliated COP 9)
          4) SJI-O (unaffiliated COP 10)

          OR OPTION B
          1) ACSI-IP (COP 7)
          2) ACSI-O (unaffiliated COP 9)
          3) SJI-IP (COP šŸ˜Ž
          4) SJI-O (unaffiliated COP 10)

ACSI chatbot seems to suggest option B is preferred if I want my kid to have better chances to enter ACSI. Will the MOE algorithm post my kid to SJI-IP instead of ACSI-O since the COP for ACSI-O is lower even though I indicate SJI-IP lower in ranking?

If most people say merit ie AL score is the determining factor, then does it mean one will get posted to a lower-ranked school with a lower COP if you rank another school with higher COP higher like the above example?

          Any thoughts?

COP is not known at the point of posting, the number MOE is indicative and based on last year. If you put ACSI-O ahead of SJI-IP, then with AL8 you most likely you will be posted to ACSI-O. If you want IP not O level suggest to go with option A.

Option A if u want IP/IB whether is ACSI or SJI

Option B if u want ACSI over SJI whether is IP/IB or O Level if u r fine with giving up SJI IP/IB for ACSI O Level as ACSI O level is rank ahead of SJI IP/IB

Stay in west and kid got a AL6(M). Original plan for RVHS (nearset SAP IP) but would like to try out HCI (but kind of far).

Came out with below list and wonder if RVHS (as 2nd choice) is a sure safe catch if did not get HCI?

                1) HCI
                2) RVHS
                3) RI
                4) NJC
                5) Nanhua
                6) Swiss Cottage

Almost certain to get RVHS if not posted to HCI. Hence, everything else below unlikely to matter. FWIW, you may have a shot at RI (if you want it) but it will likely need to be first choice. The conundrum would be whether to put RI first and HCI second. I think better odds than not that AL6(M) is safe at HCI whether first or second but can't say for sure.

                  Congrats and good luck.

AL 9 - Not considering Cedar / SCGS O Lvl stream, or CHIJ TOA PAYOH OR St Margaret / Fairfield (Affiliation) at JC level . Crescent is a good school , not sure if affilication would be useful at O Lvl stage.

Personally Crescent is better than Swiss as it has all express cohert.

Wish you and DD all the best !

Hi My DD scored AL 9 . Is it risk to put 1. NJC (cop 7)
                    2. Crescent (cop 11)
                    3. Swiss ( cop 11).
I am staying in west. Pls advise if I put NJC as first choice, is it a risk?
Also bit confused between swiss and crescent. Which would be a better ?
                    Tks in advance.

To assist parents in their choices - wrt school affiliations and school know as a whole.

                        Hi SpongyBob
Congrats to your son too! Thank you for your reply...
I have noticed that many AL 7 in this forum! Hence, I am quite unsure if is wise to put HCI as his 1st choice, as he didnt take HCL.

If u are staying around the same area, today we actually drove to all school above and let him look at the \"school\" and surrounding + travel time/route for him from our place.

HCI/NJC is the most convenient, MRT to MRT, less than 30 mins from our place (downtown line)
SJI is further down abit but there is a direct bus about 40mins
ACSI is also direct bus ~ 50 mins
RVHS direct bus too 40 mins!

 actually, have u even think of taking the risk of even consider RI?
                        Hey there, Strongmum!

                        We did that yesterday! šŸ˜‚

RI crossed our mind, but due to distance considerations and it is more \"open-battle\" nature, we feel that HCI has slightly better chance (he took his HCL with Merit).

Sounds like your travel arrangement is much better than ours. We stay at CCK, and we need to drive him to Bukit Panjang station before he can take the Downtown line. Then it will be 6-stop breeze ride to Tan Kah Kee. It definitely eats up some travel time, but we do feel that it should not be problem if fate lands him for HCI or NJC.

For us, RVHS is the most convenient. 172 will ferry him from bus stop at our block to the gate.

What is concerning me right now is the order between HCI, ACSI & NJC for 1st to 3rd choice. Feel like, if miss one, gonna miss all. Will let my boy decide on what he wants the most for 1st choice, I suppose.

But hey, good luck for your son! Hope he gets his first choice!
