2021 PSLE Discussions and Strategies (Children born in 2009)

Nus high is a specialised school and the students learn computing, science and maths at a more advanced level if I guess correctly…See what your child like and discuss with her…End of the day, we as parents are not the one studying inside the school…See what the passion n interest and dream the child like…For AL4, that is the best possible AL score…Can enter practically any school u want .

Hi.
My DS has scored AL15(M), we stay at bidadari(near woodleight mrt ), i Need some advise for the selection of school.
1. Xinmin sec ( AL 14)
2. Geylang Methodist sec ( AL 15)
3. Holy innocent sec ( AL 15)
4. Bowen sec ( AL 16)
5. Ang mo kio sec (AL 16)
6 St. Gabriel sec ( AL 17)
Geylang & Holy is affiliated school , so the chances slim? Should i give up Xinmin to move them to 1st choice? Is safe net for AL17 as 6th choice? Or i should choose AL 18 for #6 ?
Hopefully someone can give me advise.
Thank you . -

One more important factor to consider:
Hi, I hv one urgent query pls. My child scored AL4 in psle and also got confirmed offer from NUSH today through SIE. We are at foreigner status, shall we wait for the S1 posting outcome( RGS is option 1 in S1 posting) or shall go with NUSH. Which should be the better choice. Thank you🙏
after 6 yrs of IP program, there is no A level exam in NUSH, as they will be awarded Diploma straight away for application for university( both overseas and locally). While for other IP schools like RGS, A level result will be used for university application -
Hi, does anyone know the sec 1 enrolment for Saint Nicks O level for non-affiliated student?

RI and NJC will not have the chance to consider your application because you have indicated RVHS AL9 (D) as second choice. AL6(M) getting into RVHS is a certainty.
Stay in west and kid got a AL6(M). Original plan for RVHS (nearset SAP IP) but would like to try out HCI (but kind of far).
Came out with below list and wonder if RVHS (as 2nd choice) is a sure safe catch if did not get HCI?
1) HCI
2) RVHS
3) RI
4) NJC
5) Nanhua
6) Swiss Cottage
If I am in your position, I would place 1) RI. 2) HCI 3) NJC, 4) RVHS
If you are living in the west why not also consider ACS(I) IB program as well? -

a) AL4 will certainly get you to RGS

b) Both schools have very different culture
c) RGS is a girls school while NUSH co-ed
d) RGS has a much longer history hence they have a long list of well-known alumnae
f) School fees for both schools are very similar
g) A-level vs Diploma -
Hi there! My girl got AL12 for her PSLE this year and we are planning to enrol her into CHIJ St Theresa’s Convent.
May I ask if there are any parents who have more information on this schooll? Like how is the school’s environment and the students’s well being? Coz I have been trying to gather more information but apparently there is not much discussion on this school. Thanks in advance! -

There are 5 OP classes next year. Both my girls are in St Nicks, younger one in P6 this year. Based on my observation, St Nicks affiliates usually do not max out on the 80%.

Right.. Didn't think of that.
Actually, I like this idea! Especially since this is the first year...SpongyBobs\" post_id=\"2049075\" time=\"1638011919\" user_id=\"196018:
Anybody else feel that MOE should let parents have a \"pre-lim\" posting, to get good gauge of ground sentiments before the real thing?
But wait. How to simulate the balloting? You might get a different result the next time
How about this? Make it like Primary School Registration Exercise. In the span of a week, update the \"status\" at the end of each day. This will be helpful for students achieving borderline AL to pull out if the dream school balloting chance is low, or if he/she has missed the cut-off.
