Wow either very free, or very evil.

Imagine production lines. Simply put, MOE will first line all the AL4 in their respective first choices. As long as there is still vacancy, they are in. If any school has no more vacancy (which according to MOE’s simulation is not likely for AL4 and AL5 students), the sorting machine will move on to their second choice and the whole process repeats until all the AL4s get posted.
Next will be the AL5 and the same process goes.
Coming to AL6, IF anyone’s first choice school is full (not saying it will happen), it moves down to the next choice and so on. Balloting only starts when the no of vacancies at any stage is lesser than the no of students with same AL level and same choice ranking level. For the ones taking HCL and applying for SAP schools, AL6D, 6M and 6P ranks higher than AL6. D ranks higher than M and M ranks higher than P. Then of choice citizenship now comes into play. Hope this is clear and simple enough.
This year, no one can tell u what are your chances for getting into a school if your AL is the same as the MOE simulated cut off, because last year’s parents chose their schools based on t score, and choice ranking didn’t matter. All we know is last year’s parents are definitely more gung-ho because the kids’ scores are more finely differentiated (over 200 t scores outcome) vs AL with only 29 outcomes AND they can place their options to try until they get the best possible cut off school. In fact after this exercise, I dare to predict no one will know for sure for next year too. It will take some years for this sorting system to stabilize and for parents to understand that we should choose the school based on what we or our kids like about the school rather than based on best available options using psle exam scores.
So pick your schools based on what u and your child like about the school, location and culture. Similarly, overthinking and trying to adopt a “safe” strategy might result in regret if u don’t want your boastful neighbor to rave about how their child got into the “better” AL school compared to yours simply because u didn’t even try. :spank: -

So that fellow actually entered the score 72 times?? Well, he must be very proud of his achievement
Unlikely if...
72*AL4 inputs from one IP address
25*AL4 inputs from another IP address
27*AL6 inputs from the 3rd IP address

This is a play safe strategy because if choice 1 fails, the chance of getting into choice 2 will be higher because COP is AL result + 1. If choice 2 fail, perhaps because AL COP upgrade from AL11 to AL10, choice 3 will have a good chance because its AL result + 3.
I am also shocked to see some parents choosing in the following sequence if their kid scores AL10 (just an example),floppy\" post_id=\"2049249\" time=\"1638071123\" user_id=\"97579:
I’m not sure why there should be a confusion over the choice merit / score thing. MOE has made it as clear as they can, and in the simplest term as they can.
1) COP AL10
2) COP AL 11
3) COP AL 12
4) COP AL 13
5) COP AL 14
6) COP AL 15
It not just one parent, quite a handful did that and many thought choice would come ahead of academic merit. MOE didn’t really communicate properly, they could have shown more concrete examples.
Isnt this the strategy which MOE is advising parents to do? That is to include choices that are AL result + 1 or 2. -

Totally agree with this, this is good advice. All the best parents and hope you child gets the school that he/she deserves. -

S1 posting doesn't operate this way.
I advised not to place this way, choice matters this year. Popular schools will be filled up at most by 2nd choice. Even your mark is above cop. If u cannot make RI, HCI, Rv and njc may most probably be filled up and you cannot enter even score is above COP. 1st choice is most important as schools are empty. Use your choice carefully. I suggested HCI as first choice. RV or NJ can be 2nd choice.CCK2008\" post_id=\"2049211\" time=\"1638067954\" user_id=\"26004:

RI and NJC will not have the chance to consider your application because you have indicated RVHS AL9 (D) as second choice. AL6(M) getting into RVHS is a certainty.
If I am in your position, I would place 1) RI. 2) HCI 3) NJC, 4) RVHS
If you are living in the west why not also consider ACS(I) IB program as well?
AL6 students will get posted before AL7 and AL8 even if RV is placed last choice..
posting is sequence starts will AL4 AL5 AL6 and so on..[/quote]

In this case, if HCI is already filled up, his next preference is RVH. But the problem is that other 6(M) kids might take their 1st choice school . If RVH is filled up with 1st choice student with same point 6(M), he has no seat. Then how about RI??? Same could happen like 1st choice take all the seats already then he has to go down and down. Am I thinking right??? -
Thanks Kimkar for the info!

1) COP of AL 10 (or an AL9 school if it is the child’s dream school)
2) COP of AL 10
3). COP of AL 10
4). COP of AL 11
5). COP AL 11
6). COP AL 12 or AL 13.
I never say +1 or +2 is wrong.
But there is no need to take things to the extreme in having your choices in descending order of COP. What are the chances of a student with AL10 being posted to a COP AL15 school? It’s like a student with tscore 235 posted to a school with COP 198. -
Hi, thanks for this effort. Really appreciate it. I think the poll is very useful. May I know if the clean up is done and the poll is closed? Thank you very much.

I will close the poll after tomorrow. Will try to clean up after that and provide the final results.putien\" post_id=\"2049131\" time=\"1638024157\" user_id=\"29927:

Is there any way to remove that guy's input to the poll? If not we will just minus the guy's inputs from the chart. BTW, we need to set a deadline for people to stop their inputs. Give it 1 more day?
