Again you are going off tangent here

The concern I highlighted is that if top IP school COP raises to AL5, then the new PSLE target for some parents will be raised to AL5, which I mentioned is a tall order. What I am talking about here is concerning parents and students having to prepare for PSLE and aiming for AL5, while what you are saying is what to do after receiving PSLE result.

So let me put in the other way to help you understand.

      Facts no. 1
Schools with indicative COP of AL 6
      RGS (260), RI (259), MGS (258)

      Facts no 2
      AL6 can only be achieved by AL 1 1 1 3 or AL 1 1 2 2

      Facts no. 3
Lowest possible score for AL 1 = 90
Lowest possible score for AL 2 = 85
Lowest possible score for AL 5 = 80

      Facts no 4
Lowest possible combine score for AL6
      a) 90+90+90+80 = 350
      b) 90+90+85+85 = 350

      Facts no 5.
Lowest AL6 t-score COP for 2020: 258 (please refer to fact no. 4 and fact no 1)

      Facts no 6
      When t-score 258 = 350 raw score
      t-score 260 will be : 350 + (2-tscore) = 350 + 2(350/258) = 352.71 (raw score)

      Facts no 7.
Lowest possible combine score for AL5
      AL 1 1 1 2
      90+90+90+85 = 355

      Facts No. 8
      when t-score 258 = 350 (raw score)
      355 (raw score) = 258 + 5(258/350) = 261.70

      Facts No 9
      RGS 2019 t-score COP : 261

No one is trying to estimate any mean or standard deviation, so let's focus on simple and logical math.

If you wish to dispute any of the above facts, please refer or quote the facts number.
All your fact 1 to 9 are irrelevant. Tscore is history. You should think in terms of AL Banding.

If MOE sets the papers at a very easy level, then even AL4 will have to ballot for RGS. If MOE chooses to set the papers at an extremely difficult level, then AL7 may have a chance to ballot into RGS.

So based on your fact 1 to 9, for this year will RGS ballot at AL5 or AL6? If you can’t tell for sure then your facts are just facts with no pertinence whatsoever.

Be it whether RGS COP is AL5 or AL6, every parent will just need to be realistic and peg the expectations accordingly.

It seems the fighting between drawing model and algebra continue and become the AL model against the T-Score system.

When I encount any confrontation with people in my daily life, I always remember the teaching from Buddhism "I am wrong, others are correct", then all disputes will gone.

Or at least think about all of us including those moderators and our chief have to spend so much time to study your posts and arguments in this thread.

Your concern is only valid if we are given only 258 to determine the raw score or vice versa.

But in this circumstance, we already know in 2020

          1) 258 = AL6 COP
          2) 350 is the lowest possible raw score for AL6
          2) 258 is the lowest t-score for AL6 COP schools
          3) AL7 COP lowest t-score range is between 255 to 257

          Agree on the 258=AL6

          I think it could be 258= 350 (some transform)=AL6

If a student score 90, there maybe some transform
, then arrive at AL score

Fact 1 is the basis of your argument and it is IRRELEVANT. U related AL6 with 258/259/260 when the AL simulation would have caused several of these 258-260 (or even higher) students to have lost their place had it been done this year

Hope the parents reading were smart enough to think for themselves and made calculated risks

Just because you can't dispute the facts that don't mean they are irrelevant. Can you highlight which part of what I posted is not relevant to AL banding? 🙂

that is not my argument, these are MOE facts.

there are 3 schools for AL6 COP, and their t-score COP for the same year 258 259 260

                To score AL6, students will need to achieve min of 90 90 90 80 / 90 90 85 85 and higher

And the 3 AL6 schools are RGS RI and MGS (IB)

Personally, I think to deserve a place in RGS and RI, students should achieve AL6 or higher.

Students with t-score which are higher than 258 are really not our concern because they cannot be used as benchmarks to calculate the lowest possible t-score for AL6.

I don’t know what’s the point of calculating T score vs raw scores, arguing and guessing about all the balloting at this moment. Everyone has already submitted their choices. We can not change anything now. The only thing we can do is to wait for the outcome in Dec and act accordingly.

Don’t create more works and stress for yourself. After we pressed the "submit" button, the only thing we can do now is to wait. Nobody knows what would happen. Peace.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But when that opinion is being communicated as a FACT, then I think something needs to be done to prevent further misleading information. I believe many parents here have tried many times to convince u otherwise of your opinions. Showing u more facts like communications from MOE didn’t seem to open your eyes to the real AL world that we are currently in. Putting 2 facts together and giving them an personal opinion of linking AL with t scores as an outcome doesn’t make the personal opinion more factual. In your “facts” below: number 1, 5, 6, 8 and 9 are all not facts because u are indicating (as though a fact) that a certain AL = to a certain t score although they were calculated by MOE under 2 different scenarios.

Simple and logical math that u mentioned does not work with the t score. Why? Ask the kiasuparents who have spend decades trying to learn how to calculate the t scores.
