Just wondering if anybody knows of somebody who got in to ACS IB at 7 points first choice?

Most likely balloted out of SCGS IP.
AL 8M
1st choice - SCGS IP
2nd choice - Cedar Girls IP
3rd choice - St Nicholas O level
Results - St Nicholas O level
Question to MOE - How can you determine whether a student qualifies for O level or IP track based on balloting? Does it make sense to the student?
So we can deduce that SCGS IP conducted balloting for 8 pointers who listed the school as 1st choice.
If Cedar IP also conducted balloting for 8 pointers at 1st choice, then this student will be posted to next choice school.
Maybe more than half of the IP schools conducted balloting at 1st choice. Earlier someone shared ACS(I) 7 points could not get in (listed as 2nd choice). Hope MOE can be transparent, not just list down the AL COP but also if balloting was conducted at 1st choice (or 2nd choice etc), so that next batch parents can choose sec schools with more info. -
DD got her first choice to NJC as AL7:)

Most schools have a link to the appeal form online. A lot of the requested info is the same but not all of it is. Generally, they seem to be looking at the overall characteristics of the student (not just PSLE AL score since everyone has met that) along with the school fit / desire to go there.
With the new AL grading, I think the % of students appealing would be higher than previous years with the T-Score. Like in the case of RI, many AL6 would appeal. I wonder what would the criteria be for selection in the appeal cases.
Definitely there could be more appeals than in the past. That being said, it seems like more often than not the student is happy with wherever he/she was posted and just wants to move ahead vs more waiting. -
At the higher ALs e.g. AL12-15, there could be a few thousand pupils at each AL. So there could be more balloting at say COP 14.

I think this AL system is more stressful than what we have been told. The extent of balloting seems rather high even among Singaporeans I.e. depends on luck.
-
Another consequence could be on mentality of parents, those who are balloted into top schools will be perceived as more lucky rather than better scorers than those who were balloted out. So gradually the top schools may lose some lustre? That will be welcomed change by MOE.

for RI or RGS to even start viewing document of appeal for transfer, there must be someone gives up his/her place in RI / RGS. i doubt there will be more than 5 vacancies become available at all.

but you never know before trying right ? no harm for trying anyway. -

Regardless of citizenship. What really important is AL grades. The better you are overall, no need to ballot esp for AL4. AL5 still might ballot if there are too many AL4 going to the same school. Citizenship is a way to keep us cool down.
SO Try to aim for AL 4 next year if you still have children..... -

Yes imagine those who got balloted might have gone into these schools under the previous system without having to appeal at all. However, no one will ever know for sure .
