I just heard of someone who scored AL10 but didn’t get into a school with COP of AL11. Put as first choice. Another classmate with AL11 got in the same school. Non SAP school.

That is not possible as ALL AL10 students will get posted ahead of AL11 regardless of the order of choice.

Yup thought so too but the parents didn’t appeal.. not sure if it’s some glitch or not or some info missing in translation. But this seems odd.

All of that is true but if I don't want to go to ACS(I) or NJC, why should I put them there? That was the specific advice that I said I don't always agree with (pick school with highest chance as first choice).

Still, regardless of what we know about (B), if enough people move from School A (higher historical t-score COP) to School B (lower historical t-score COP) I am quite sure the odds will get closer together, not further apart. Any if everyone follows your advice, the one brave student that selects School A will be a lock because they have no competition while School B will still need to ballot.

Of course, this is an extreme example and unlikely to happen, but unless MOE publishes the actual ballot data (which they never will) if I have a strong preference I will still try for it. Preference could be academic offerings, curriculum track (A Level, IB), secular or religious school, or travel distance. I am 100% sure I won't put a school I don't want to go to as first choice just because it may have more spots available, especially when there are schools I like at the ALX+1 COP available.

ACS(I) and NJC are there simply because they are AL7 COP schools to fit into the illustration of having the same AL COP schools placed in #1 #2 #3.

If the student's decision is to secure one of the 3 available AL7 IP schools, it will make sense to place one with the highest chance as #1 because #2 and #3 will most definitely not qualify for balloting.

Below is a good example. By placing ACS(I) as #1 choice, the odds may have been better because HCI has historically commanded equal or higher t-score COP than ACS(I). If #1 was NJC (assuming NJC being considered), I am sure that the odds will even be higher. Maybe even no balloting for those who place NJC as #1.

Its impossible for such glitches or for parents not to appeal. Maybe the parents doesn't want others to know that the child result is AL12?

Heard of someone who scored ALX, put 3 ALX schools as 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice, didn't get into any of them. So it's a risky strategy.

Wonder if anyone got 9M got posted to RVHS? That will prove the Zaobao compilation to be wrong.

MOE release / Annex says IP school range was AL6 - AL9(M). Based on the other SAP IP COPs we've heard of, I believe that only leaves RVHS to be AL9(M).
