Hi all,

my boy got into HCI and starting sec 1 in 2022, is there any parents group chat?

what are the difference between the different consortiums? cannot find much info about them

Not much difference between the consortiums. Usually the GEP kids would enter iSpark where the curriculum remains largely the same, but in an environment the GEP students are more used to (some inter-disciplinary projects etc.), while the rest are randomly sorted. In Sec 3, students might switch consortiums depending on their subject combination and whether they are taking any special programs.

the consortiums at the high school are like a mini-school within a school. there are level assemblies, and also consortium assemblies. the consortium system allows for very much better pastoral care, i feel. the consortium directors do tend to know many boys in the consortium. although it is not necessary to be in a consortium council before running for the student council, many boys who are keen on the council route first serve within their consortium councils.


from what i see, many boys do switch consortiums after sec 2 (for my son’s sec 2 class, more than half had to switch out of the original consortium due to different Sec 3 subject combinations. he was perfectly happy in both consortiums and there is no huge adjustment or what.

for sports cca such as Judo etc, any idea if kids with no experience has chance of joining? my child would like to pick up Judo as a sport but likely may not qualify to represent the school in competitions
