To clarify I look at performance these way:
      - RI/HCI getting academic stronger students than NY. And NY stronger students than EU
      JC
      - if RI/HCI A level performance is better than NY, this is expected because they enrol academic stronger students than NY. If NY A level performance is better than EU this is expected because NY is having academic stronger students than EU.
      - but if NY A level performance is better then RI/HCI, this I will deem note worthy, because NY is turning those academically relatively weaker students than RI/HCI, into better performance than RI/HCI
      Yes, agreed.
But 1 point to take note, EJC has
      > 50% IPs vs Ny non IPs
      Then who started comparing? Lol

Cop of most single digit JCs are 1-2 points difference.
Cop determines the Main eligibility to enter a JC, what you mean not just only con'n.

        Ny lacks wow factor...?
Every JCs has its own + points.

You did survey on students fearing to pit against IPs?
Thats just your own narrow or elitism mindset.

Its obvious Ny is many students ' choiced JC.
How a JC value-adds to a student is a key consideration. Take a look at PSC Scholarships, the statistics for NYJC are nearly non-existent. Imagine getting top students but after 2 years, none could make the cut for prestigious scholarships, whereas even new JCs like EJC can produce a handful in its short history, one wonders if NYJC is value-subtracting its students?

If the COP is 1-2 point difference why bother making a song and dance out if it.

My friends kids aim to do well in O-levels. They are inspired to score 4 points to enter RI/HCI. So far I have not heard anyone says, “Oh, I aim to score 4 points (below) so that I can go to NYJC! ”.

Why do you keep talking about IP vs non IP? A Freudian slip of your own insecurities?

All the students join the JC orientation and start afresh. If one keeps thinking I am not as good as IP students, and to think that others are elites while they are not, then one can continue to gravitate there lor.

No wonder when it come to PSC interviews, NYJC students are always edged out by students of other JCs.

            My view

Nothing wrong with using IP/non IP, or scholarships as baseline for choosing schools. It is personal. But those who use them as the benchmarks, have to be prepared for the pressures that comes with it: IP is top 10%; scholarship - top of pinnacle.

Actually ACSI and NYJC is almost on-par. But how come year-on-year many top scholarships eg. SAF/Mindef, were awarded to students from ACSI, and in fact students coming from NY was wayyyyy far from it?

What will that imply, if NYJC produces less scholarship recipients?

                    In the first case,
doesn't even make any sense to compare ACSI with Nanyang JC.

                    Why ?

                    Because

Both of them follow totally different curriculum.

                    ACSI is IB.
In contrast, Nanyang JC is A-level. So, are u comparing apple to Apple? Of course not !

So, who should u compare Acsi with ?

To compare apple to Apple, should only pick those learning situation, that are also of the same identical nature / type of \"IB\" curriculum.
                    Eg.

                    We can compare
ACSI with SJI, since both follow the same identical \"IB\" curriculum

                    OR

If you really want to compare apple with an orange,
                    then

should at least pick the LEADER amongst all the A-level \"IP\" JCs, that is, compare

                    ACSI \"IB\" by-products with

                    \"RI or Hwa Chong \" \"Integrated program\" by-products.

Yes, u can compare this way.
                    It is fair because
the by-products of ACSI (IB) and RI / Hwa Chong (Integrated program, by passing O-level), all went through 6 years program. This time frame of 6 long years, is a common ground or common barometer, to analyse whether is the IB or the A-level program better or stronger.

However, it doesn't make any sense to compare 6 long years time frame of ACSI (IB) by-products

                    vs.

the extremely very short 2 years of Nanyang JC (A-level) by-products, who only admit in JAE students at age 16 yo.

                      NOTHING to imply !

                      Why ?

                      Because

The \"by-products \" (graduates) of both learning institution are so completely totally different !

                      What is ACSI ?
                      The by-products (graduates) of ACSI
follow a 6 years IP program, under a curriculum named \"IB\". The entry aged students entered right after PSLE so young, at the age of 12 year old.

                      How about Nanyang Junior College?

The by-products ( graduates ) of Nanyang JC follow a very short 2 year A-level program. The entry aged students are a lot more mature 16 year old JAE students, unlike ACSI PSLE students entering. After all, don't u agree that the thinking, maturity level of students at aged 12 vs. at aged 16, is very different ?

                      Do Nanyang JC
take in any PSLE student, like ACSI does ?
                      No !
                      NYJC doesn't.

                      So, in the first case,
are u even comparing apple to Apple ?
                      No, you are not.

In fact, what are u comparing ? You are actually comparing an apple to an orange.

                      And,
does it make any sense to compare an apple with orange?
                      No, it doesn't.

                      So, what can u conclude,
if u were to compare an apple with an orange ?

                      Nothing to conclude.

At the very most, one can say that the \"IB\" curriculum has her own merits. But, so does the opposite contrasting, more popular A-level curriculum too.

Why use the word, the more popular A-level ?

How many Total number of Junior Colleges can u count in Singapore, that fall under A-level ?

                      A lot ?
So many of them around, including the Non-IP JCs like the A-level Pioneer JC.

                      In stacking contrast,
how about the Total number of \"IB\" learning institution, in Singapore ?

                      Only two ?

                      ACSI and SJI,
excluding those International schools that also offer IB at expensive school fees and also excluding SOTA, that incorporated dance or other type of Arts curriculum too.

Please don't ever compare Nanyang Junior College to ( RI / Hwa Chong)

                        Because

It is not fair to Nanyang JC at all

                        Why, not fair ?

                        Because

                        They are in different camp.

RI, Hwa Chong and all other IP JCs like Eunoia, Victoria, Dunman High etc, all admit in PSLE students at 12 yo, where students got 6 long years ahead to be groomed via their individual in-house various IP Talent Development program.

                        In stark contrast,
Nanyang JC is not even an IP JC, hence only got a very short 2 years stunt to prepare JAE students for A-level. In other words, Nanyang JC learning journey is very very short, only 2 short years compared to all other IP JCs with 6 long years ahead advantage in terms of grooming talent.

What is 6 long years vs. 2 short years ?

                        6 divided by 2, how many ?
                        3

                        That means IP-JCs
                        like
( RI, Hwa Chong, Eunoia, etc ) experienced or possess 3 times the amount of time frame advantage to groom their students' talent,
compared to Nanyang JC or any other Non-IP JCs.

So, if ever anyone want to compare Nanyang JC,

who should u compare with, to be fair ?

                        Compare Nanyang JC with
rest of all other \"Non-IP\" JCs, then is considered \"fair and square\",

                        because

all these Non-IP JCs function on the same common ground : only 2 short years of time frame!
