Ny as 3rd JC as many outside regards based on results, not just single cop.

Ok lah, Ny not 3rd best, up to you. Live in your yesteryears.

You better go groom the children to be Scholar, must be PSC, not just ordinary.
      Dont waste time in ksp.

You treat Scholarship as god, 走火入魔.

      I rest my case.
Be fair to the good crop that chooses to go NYJC, please enable them to stand proud among the scholarship recipients as they rightly deserve to be. And not let the woeful underrepresentation of NYJC graduates among scholarship recipients be worn as a perverse badge of honour.

I am not obsessed. Someone else is, it’s an annual ritual that he has to use a new nickname to post ludicrous comments during this period of time.

3rd best JC, not very convincing to me! Well, it depends on what you define as "best". Obviously, one of the must have criteria is best result. There is no clear and conclusive evidence so far. "A" level result is going to be released soon. Let’s see if NYJC can produce clear evidence to be No. 3 this round.

What will that imply, if NYJC produces less scholarship recipients?
Well, NYJC produces stellar A-level results, but very few of their students managed to obtain top scholarships eg. SAF/Mindef, as compared to other IPJCs and even the non-IPJC but popular ACJC with higher COP.

Is it because of 1) Sch brand name? 2) Non-IPJC? 3) Quality of student? 4) Connection? etc?

When it’s in your favour you compare otherwise there are reasons not to compare cos it’s not fair?

Then NYJC should no longer be the 3rd best JC in Singapore.

Maybe can only say NYJC is the best performing Non-IP JC based on a single metric of COP.
            Who says that
Nanyang Junior College is the 3rd top JC today, in Singapore?

            At the very most -
            we can only conclude that
\"In terms of Joint Admission Exercise Cut off point admission\" selection entry criteria, Yes, Nanyang JC indeed rank right after (RI & Hwa Chong). But, that's all.

            However,
in terms of batch-by-batch A-level results churned out, there is NO definite concrete evidence to support the motion that
            Nanyang JC is #3.
After all, Nanyang JC had never disclosed her A-level results publicly in detail subject by subject, for each of her H2 and H1 subjects, and compare against the \"National \" A-level barometer cohort performance, together with the rest of the remaining A-level JCs' performance, of exactly (precisely) where she stands.

At the very most, one can only conclude that -

amongst all the \"NON\" IP-JCs category, Nanyang Junior College is right in front, head of the lead. This, by itself, is already very good. But, that's all.

              Hi parents

Seem to me there is no clear indications of NYJC good “output performance” , then why NYJC is attracting so many academically strong students? I am really curious.

It could be because NYJC is ranked 3rd in term of JAE COP. So as a common selection process, academically strong students will place NYJC as 2nd JAE choice , after RI/HCI. Those students who couldn’t make it to RI/HCI, would be admitted to NYJC. But what is the reason that NYJC is moving up the JAE COP ladder over the years?

              Because:
              - near MRT station?
              - most subject combinations options?
              - conducive studying environment?

Could it be many students stay in northeast as a result of booming population there over the years? So for convenience its definitely the nearest. Another I heard is the charismatic principal.

NYJC is popular partly because some students buy into the online hype that JIP-JAE segregation is a serious issue, particularly at the new IP-JC that is geographically nearby. The Arts COP is partly boosted by science students who place NYJC (Arts) after NYJC (Science) as their choice, to exploit the "loophole" that once you’re in the door, the system allows you to freely choose subject combinations.

It takes a long time before an academic institution gains recognition in a community. Decades, even. Nanyang JC has been living in the doldrums of obscurity for several years, and is only recently climbing out and getting recognised. Patience.

Could you give an example on how this works?

When you apply to JCs after receiving your O Levels results, got put NYJC Arts as your choice even though you planned to take Science subjects subsequently. So, if you are accepted into the school, you go in with Arts COP.

Hearsay. Not sure how true this year but such \"rumour\" has been going on for years.
