Total,
Reddit already said a student who got in through the Art stream can do BCME or PCME. These are obviously science courses!
If NYJC is so flexible, then might as well have only one COP for entry into NYJC.
If MOE allows NYJC to do away with the Art-Sci differentiation, is MOE being fair to students who were balloted out because they obey the rules? Is MOE’s inaction favouring students who know of this loophole and slip through? Where’s the transparency and merit-based selection MOE commits to provide?
how many JC1 classes of (BCME + PCME) are there in NYJC, including students from the \"Arts\" stream permitted to study these subject combination too ?
How about other JCs ?
Is NYJC flexible subject combination being repeated in other JCs, as well ?
Can
(RI / Hwa Chong / Eunoia / National / Temasek / Dunman High / River Valley High) permit their \"Arts\" stream students, to loosely or flexibily, take up JC1 (BCME or PCME) subject combination, that traditionally fall under \"Science\" stream, but students actually entered (got admitted in) under the Arts COP, not via the Science COP ? Or these JCs bar (stop) the students from \"jumping ship\" or \"crossing-over\" into these popular, traditional Science stream subject combination ? -

One way NYJC can become top school if all NYGH's 400 IP students can go direct as part of their IP partner JC, instead of HCI. They share same nametag of nanyang, although NYGH has way longer history than NYJC.
You want to claim as the 3rd best JC yet this not fair that not fair, but still have the cheek to claim 3rd best JC using COP as the single metric.
The way you put it, even though NYJC students are cream of the crop from O-levels, they lack leadership quality to win prestigious scholarships. NYJC’s mission is not failed, it grooms Singapore’s working class to work under leaders who graduate from other JCs.
Otherwise, by just pure JAE and affiliated sec schools Chung Cheng, it is hard to achieve outstanding results, so far NYJC only has 6 PSC scholars, versus tons of them from NJC/VJC. -

Don't think you are right to say that RI/HCI/Eunoia had 6 years to groom. It is still 2 years. RI takes in IPs from RI(sec) and RGS, HCI takes in IPs from chinese high and NYGH, Eunoia takes in from CHS/SCGS/St. Nick, they are all different schools. The only difference is that they took in IP students who are already the top 10% and did not joined O Level exam which the JAE students take part in.
Please don't ever compare Nanyang Junior College to ( RI / Hwa Chong)
Because
It is not fair to Nanyang JC at all
Why, not fair ?
Because
They are in different camp.
RI, Hwa Chong and all other IP JCs like Eunoia, Victoria, Dunman High etc, all admit in PSLE students at 12 yo, where students got 6 long years ahead to be groomed via their individual in-house various IP Talent Development program.
In stark contrast,
Nanyang JC is not even an IP JC, hence only got a very short 2 years stunt to prepare JAE students for A-level. In other words, Nanyang JC learning journey is very very short, only 2 short years compared to all other IP JCs with 6 long years ahead advantage in terms of grooming talent.
What is 6 long years vs. 2 short years ?
6 divided by 2, how many ?
3
That means IP-JCs
like
( RI, Hwa Chong, Eunoia, etc ) experienced or possess 3 times the amount of time frame advantage to groom their students' talent,
compared to Nanyang JC or any other Non-IP JCs.
So, if ever anyone want to compare Nanyang JC,
who should u compare with, to be fair ?
Compare Nanyang JC with
rest of all other \"Non-IP\" JCs, then is considered \"fair and square\",
because
all these Non-IP JCs function on the same common ground : only 2 short years of time frame! -

Top 5 JCs:
1) Hci
2) Ri
3) Nyjc (non IP JC, steady!)
4) Vjc
5) Ejc
Lets face it. -
My DD graduated last year and did well for her A Levels.
But like any other schools or JCs, there are very good and not so good teachers.
But overall, the JC has done very well overall. -
So weird, just put up a post out of nowhere

Kudos to Ny Head, teachers for always sparing a listening ear to Ny students' feedback, reinventing its teaching strategies
to pre cohort well for A Level Exams. -

Not really sure. If I can remember correctly, my DD said median UAP is 85.

So, I think they have done pretty well overall for the majority of their subjects.
