From our past records, it appears that from 2015, St Gabriel does not require balloting in Phase 2B based on the new 1/3 rule for Phase 2B. So you will most likely get a place in St Gabriel. I would suggest that you go for it. The competition for KCPS in Phase 2C is crazy and likely to require balloting for those staying at least 1-2km away. Not very good odds.
I think she is staying within 1 km of both schools. Therefore, should be fairly low risk for KCPPS.

There's another way of deciding which school to choose:
If you stay east of the CTE, i.e. Braddell Heights estate, or Golden Hill Estate, choose SGPS.
If you stay west of the CTE, i.e. Bishan, choose KCPPS.

Yes I live within 1km of both KCPS and St Gabriel.
In fact, KCPS is literally just across the street from my block. So it would be very convenient.
Hence my dilemma whether I can risk it for Phase 2C for KCPS or should I forego it and go for Phase 2B in St Gabriel....

For balloting SC over 2kms vs PR within 1km, SC will get the seat?

Balloting can happen at Phases 2A to 2C Supplementary of the Primary 1 (P1) Registration Exercise. Learn when that happens, how it is done and who gets priority.

Under all situations, SCs will always have priority over PRs.

Yes... this year there are lots of unknown as Phase 2A is merged with 20 places reduction and Phase 2B is only 1/3 of available seats as opposed to 1/2. Phase 2C seems to have \"more places\" but I think that is a fallacy as most people that failed at Phase 2A/2B will try again in Phase 2C, as indicated by the poll above.

Let's hope MOE will just increase the cohort sizes in schools this year, instead of sticking to their \"just enough\" strategy they have adopted for the last few years. We shall see.

Already received PG notification from school for Phase 1, parents to submit online form by 29 April 2022.

Personally, I think it is very dependent on the specific school and the housing situation around the school. For those that were ballot Phase 2A1 > 2 km, the question is will the reduction of 20 seats and alumni behavior (move closer) push the combined Phase 2A to ballot < 1 km? If yes, then people can have another go in Phase 2C (if they were ballot out). If all the < 1 km are in free and the ballot is 1-2 km (or still > 2 km), then Phase 2C is going to be a completely different game (because those ballot out cannot try again). There will still be balloting but relatively speaking there could be some schools with great odds. One caveat being there seems to be more and more housing everywhere these days, and since I am not playing I haven't spent too much time to figure this out...

Yah, same same. Has just been told by the school.

My last submission... and I can bring out the pop corn afterwards.
