in the supermarket, there are two types of frozen chicken wings (for example).

One is all frozen together. I will need to partial defrost to pack them into small packets sufficient for a meal.
The other is frozen but each wing is individual and this will be very convenient for me bec I just take whatever amount i need to defrost before cooking.

I just remembered - there is 1 brand of frozen chicken where the pieces are frozen separately, not in a big lump. I see it in Sheng Siong, but can't remember if Fairprice stocks it. I can't remember the brand but I'll look for it the next time I go.

Tomorrow likely can go to supermkt see how is the condition now. Chicken usually buy the non frozen one from ntuc. Those slab of pork used for roasted pork, I started buying frozen for past at least 2 years…coz have spices so not much diff in taste to me. Frozen minced also started using but not that much…cooked with taucheo, black beans usually, taste ok too. We like mutton also…hopefully only chicken affected and we all can go for other types of meat.

It's probably best that chicken thawed to room temperature should not be refrozen, especially if it's been sitting in a supermarket for a day or so.

Frozen chicken is also sold frozen, not thawed. I've been buying frozen chicken for years now. I semi-thaw it and pull off the amount I want to cook (usually 1 kg - about 3 meals), then stick the rest back in the freezer. It's fine - I'm not sensitive to any different in taste, and my family has not suffered any ill-effects.
Usually in the fresh chicken section, they put the thawed chicken there too. I know there are frozen chicken parts in another section which we have never bought before. I just cannot imagine having to wrestle with the frozen parts to split into portions so it's usually done with fresh chicken for us. Also, other than the transportation home, we try not to refreeze frozen food if we can help it as far as possible.

Sometimes after buying non frozen meat..kept after 1 day I will start to worry. Buy already but no time cook. So with frozen actually can be fresher., I think lor.

So far, we only buy Fish Bay frozen fish because they are packed individually.
