        Hi

I wonder whether there is anyone who can share with me the exam questions for the literature text “Something old. Something new….”

My sec 2 kid is not doing well. I want to go thru with her myself as I reckon all good & experienced literature tutors are fully booked for the rest of the year by now.

        Thank you.

          Hi

I managed to find some annotation for the literature text \"Something Old. Something New. Something Borrowed\" from this blog by a literature tutor. https://teacher-jo.com/english-literature-resources/
She also has some notes for other literature text.

I also bought a set of literature notes from this seller that I found on carousell. https://www.carousell.sg/u/gradeplus/

How to do well for Literature without tuition ?

Firstly, the child must enjoy reading ! The ones who do very well for Literature are usually those who enjoy reading.

Understand what you are reading. Ask your classmates or your parents to explain to you. Ask classmates who are doing very well for Literature to scan their marked homework for you to reference or seek consultation from them. I’m sure they will be willing to help.

There are a lot of free online resources that I found useful for lower secondary literature. Just do a google search for the book that you need additional resources.

Encourage reading of story books in order to read between the lines. For poetry, explain what it means and the underlying meaning to your child after the Teachers gave out poetry in worksheets for students to analyse.

Sometimes it also depends on the quality of the Literature teacher that your child gets.

Some girls’ secondary schools are known to have good English Literature Teachers to teach the students and produce good results for Literature consistently.

If all else fail, please get a qualified and experienced tutor or seek the Literature teachers in school for free consultation by making appointment with them after school or via zoom.

Learning Literature in upper secondary will help those who intend to go JC to cope with GP. It may be a disadvantage to upper Sec students if they do not take Literature and suffer in JC as they struggle with GP,
