Tips for dealing with forgetfulness

People with some forgetfulness can use a variety of techniques that may help them stay healthy and deal with changes in their memory and mental skills.

Here are some tips:

Learn a new skill.
Follow a daily routine.
Plan tasks, make to-do lists, and use memory tools such as calendars and notes.
Put your wallet or purse, keys, phone, and glasses in the same place each day.
Stay involved in activities that can help both the mind and body.
Volunteer in your community, at a school, or at your place of worship.
Spend time with friends and family.

Get enough sleep, generally seven to eight hours each night.
Exercise and eat well.
Prevent or control high blood pressure.
Don’t drink a lot of alcohol.
Get help if you feel depressed for weeks at a time.

I put in calendar..after morning reminder I will change the timing to nearer to the actual time. On top of that I set alarm. That's for dds matters..If I don't do that I will completely forget and during holiday I was with one dd for an appt and tuition ctr called me say the younger one haven't log in. Young and old all forget.
You didn't save your younger one tuition appointment in your calendar?

You can also keep points and then the winner or loser can buy dinner.
Maybe relatives can do so...for friends, they usually play with \"real\" money.

OMG, try to plan properly and don't rush, you have to set a good example to dds on how to arrange daily activities. I maybe a fortunate people because I have never forgot my appointments and never forget to bring my wallet....

I am sorry to hear your mum is having serious dementia. Could she still take care of her daily life, like eating, going toilet, etc, by herself?

I agree playing mahjong is so fun and I consider mahjong playing is the best boradgames I have played. The problem is playing with friends on a real table may involve some money and don't know whether one's can take this type of \"excitement\" or not.
Thanks, we just have to accept that it is part of the aging process in her case. We have a helper helping her movement in the house so it's fine for now.
Playing with friends can involve real money or just the chips if all are in agreement. Even for real money, it can be really small amount, it's really up to the players to define.

It is good to get a different perspective from outsiders in the care facility. They may give you ideas to engage her on days when she is home. Daycare doesn't mean everyday. It can be once a week to form a basis of a routine which will be important later on when things get more severe.
I agree, we can explore if she is fine with it.

Try explore a trial session with St Luke daycare. My gff’s MIL had dementia & hard to care for & will scold helper daily. Since she went for daycare at St Luke’s, she enjoyed it tremendously & esp love meeting new frds. She’ll chatter with them. Did a lot of healthy activities exercising her arms, hands & legs as they chatter. I was impressed how she rmbrs me when I visited her at daycare tho she used to be clueless who I was when I visited her last year. Check out if this will work.

Related to seniors as I dont know where to park this info:

Anybody has been buying groceries for seniors at NTUC?
Now you need to produce a Seniors Discount Card and his/her PG or MG card.

Complete the below form and attach relevant documents to show the senior has limited mobility:

Gosh, so troublesome?

Today DH and I went grocery shopping at Sheng Shiong while MIL was still sleeping in. Thought just forgo the seniors discount since she couldnt meet our timing.

But who knows, Cashier told him the elderly doesnt need to be present at all. Next time we just bring her MG card and show to cashier can already. Wish we had known earlier.

SS prices already very cheap. With ~$5-6 off our $100+ bill, it is quite big savings.
