I'm just grateful it's all worked out well. And we should have called the school last week to confirm.
Wow!!! That’s very stressful for both you and your child. Thankfully you reached in time. One would think the school would eventually have called you if you didn’t show up. And then realised the problem. -

Yes indeed. Thank you for the wishes.
This kind of friendship is more precious than gold. Wishing both your daughters all the best![/quote] -

Son said the science is very hard! All the best to all who sat for NUS selection test.
How was the NUSH selection test today? And the RI tests? What was it like?
We've no skin in the game for these schools. Just curious and wondering if anyone wants to share. -

Answering my previous curiosity:
Now that we are preparing for RI DSA Math test this Saturday, I wonder if any parents here can share what does the test typically like? Perhaps based on your children's experience, those who went through the test in recent years.
is it more like RIPMWC where the problems are super hard that just getting 9 out 20 correct already puts you at top 3% (this was what happened for my son's RIPMWC)?
or is it more like SMOPS where there are plenty of problems, reasonably medium to hard, but there's just not enough time (so it's more about testing the speed of solving)?
or is it more like NMOS where the problems have hidden insights with which the answer will become easy? (so it's about testing \"thinking out of the box\")
or is it more like SMO Junior where it's actually for Secondary students level of math olympiad?
or is it more like AMC8 / AMC10 where you have enough time to solve all problems and it's about getting as close to all correct as possible?
or... is it gonna be IMO style where students have to write essays of math proof?
My son did RI DSA Math this morning, and he’s now doing NUSH one in the afternoon. According to him, the format was:
45 minutes Section A of 16 multiple choice questions.
He said he couldn’t do only 1 because he ran out of time. He said the problem was: “2022 and 1314 when divided by d gives the same remainder r, what is the maximum possible d-r?”. We discussed briefly and immediately got the insights, so it’s really due to out of time only.
This means the Section A level in my estimation is similar to SMOPS question 11-20 or perhaps also 1-10.
Then the answers for Section A are collected.
Followed by 45 minutes Section B of 9 essay problems with workings & proofs need to be written down.
This means it’s unlike any other MO, except perhaps RIPMWC Round 2 & NMOS Special Round, which very shortlisted few could have experienced and would have been top contenders in any DSA Math anyway (if not already given red carpet early CO).
Although interestingly first thing my son said was: surprisingly Section B was easier than Section A. Hopefully he’s right (and not overconfident), which means perhaps the test is about ability to write mathematical arguments, which is essential towards IMO.
Will share update about NUSH DSA tests too later, wish him luck! -

my boy just came back from RI math.
Son said the science is very hard! All the best to all who sat for NUS selection test.
He said 2 papers, each for 45 mins.
The first paper is 8MCQ+8 short Q
The second paper is 3 long Q, each with 3 sub_Q.
In total 25Qs. It is very time-intensive.
He has 2Qs left unanswered. -

My DS is waiting from SJI reply too....
Hi parents, anyone received CHS or SJI leadership?
Thanks!

That settles it then. Even I won’t make it for RI.
