How the schools do it is: if they think child’s results will not be “good enough” to survive in their school, then they simply won’t offer anything. Once they offer, it is out of their control since MOE permits till AL22.

RI FAQ also says CO for \"Express stream\" needs AL22 or better. Previously, I thought this was AL20 for IP schools (i.e. straight Express and not Express/NA Option) but I could be wrong (one of my prior replies may be incorrect). Regardless, it looks like AL22 is the current threshold.

Ah, got it. Thank you. That's interesting. I would have thought that some schools tend to be strict(er) with admission notwithstanding that the student has a talent which they are after. After all, the school expects that student to do well both in that talent and academically (although the focus will be on the former, for sure). But they don't want to punish the student unnecessarily so I thought they'd like a lower cut-off so if the student is really weak academically, he or she will not suffer in Secondary School having to juggle both the talent and school work.

FWIW, SJI has their “DSA Care” scheme, which is extra academic support (eg remedial, consultations) for the kids who came in via DSA and quite far below the school’s PSLE COP. So if you’re worrying, don’t.

Despite this, I personally dont think they will actually make an offer to a student who has consistently scored close to AL22.

If they do offer, rest assured they will do what they can to support your child. That’s what I heard about SJI.

we also applied for Victoria Visual art, but no news until now. Does it mean not shortlisted?

I'm not sure. As the days go by, the silence is unnerving but VS has told me to be patient. I've not heard any others who had applied for the VA domain in VS so I'm still hopeful.
