Personally I would prefer an easier topic, so I can have a better conversation on it. Even with higher expectations, I’ll be fine if I had said everything that I could and to the best of my ability. Yup. The \"easier\" the topic, the \"higher\" the expectation. Similarly, if the topic is \"difficult\" (i.e. less discussed/involves more technical terms etc.), the examiner's expectations will alter accordingly. This is to ensure as much \"fairness\" as possible.
E.g. for today's (Day 5) topic on Reading, I would be hoping to hear phrases such as “书中自有黃金屋”、“读破万卷书，下笔如有神” and examples of the different book genres being mentioned in the conversation.

Hoping for the challenging oral topics: Online shopping, cyber-bullying and hawker culture to be tested today. I shortlisted down to 3 topics just for today Oral Day 6 on Friday. My child is weak in Chinese oral conversation so I have to spot topic with her and she memorized key Vocabulary word phrases. We guess the theme : Technology may be tested today as there is a trend of technology questions for past few years. To date, technology questions have not been tested yet.
Aim is to pass Chinese oral for today.
Teachers/Examiners: Please be kind to all the students in awarding marks if topic is challenging today.
Some teachers from SAP Chinese schools may be sent to other schools with good English background but super weak in Chinese. Really hope these teachers adjust their expectations accordingly. -

Yes, I could not have said it better than you. The more challenging the topic, the more it benefits the students who are weak as there will be prompting and guiding questions given by examiners too.

Day 6 and Day 3 equally tough ! But I think day 6 is more difficult. A lot of medical terms to use. Not every student aiming to be a doctor.

Almost everyone wanted to cry after the oral exam day 6! Even the smart ones who are good in Chinese also said too hard ! This topic has never been tested before. I told my child to come home in one piece. It’s ok even if she fails. Her friends are consoling one another.
