So my friend’s son in SST is pursuing the risky path cos he takes EL/CL/HCL/2M/2S/SS/Computing. I think 9 subjects are max correct?
Computing is only an \"Applied\" Science subject.

      Total,
your friend's son only has ONE Humanities subject at SST, that is (Social studies + Elective xx)

      xx : Humanities

so yah lor, he is risky, if he is weak in either (Social studies or in Elective).

But No, he is Not risky,
if he is strong in both (Social studies And Elective)

Doesn't mean that just because you only take ONE single Humanities, definitely you end up being risky. There are students,
who took only single Humanities and still able to end up with (A1 or A2), in their O level

            No.

Oh dear. I hope schools offering these subjects would make sure parents and students understood correctly.

There are some Sec 2 O level track students -

because they worried they can't handle Sec 3 Social studies,

so some of them applied for Transfer into some IP Secondary schools, because some of these IP schools don't even teach Social studies subject at all in Sec 3.

              So, in such schools,

              1) they \"escaped\" SS, in their IP curriculum

              And

              2) of course, they also escaped taking O level exam.

Your friend's son, can consider this path too, if he had entered SST by Tscore, not by DSA, because he can't break his SST (DSA) contract, right ?

10 is max. However, you will need to seek MOE approval to agree to 10.

There’s no escaping SS in IP school I think. It’s called integrated humanities in IP schools but textbook is SS.

There is no escaping social studies in IP stream. But each school does it in their own way (which I think is approved by moe). In ny, it is prob called Integrated Humanities. In some other IPs, it is called something else. But yes, no escaping social studies.
