Thank you SG_KP1 🙂 For the recent prelims she got AL4(D), MYE AL6 and P5 EYE AL5(D) in MS, so fingers crossed actual psle will not deviate too far. Thinking of forgoing NYGH WL 😞 May I ask if RGS or other secondary schools’ students in their respective talent area are all pre-selected during dsa? In short, will the secondary school still lookout for talents among those who enter via psle results? TIA again!
Strong results! Most likely can at least ballot for RGS. One downside calculation I can suggest is take the worst grade for each subject across P5 SA2-P6 SA1-Prelim and sum them up. If still AL6 (ie lower scores in same subject, other subjects consistent), should have more comfort (but still not guaranteed).

I do not know about RGS but other schools there will be leadership opportunities for those beyond the DSA domain. But applicants will likely exceed spots so not guaranteed. I do think there are other leadership opportunities in upper secondary so not all is lost if miss out in Sec 1. It's a long journey, just keep improving oneself.

      Good luck again!

Many thanks on the tips! Will mull over this with DD after PSLE.

Received DHS result by post today.

              Sigh…it is on WL…
May I know how does WL work?

My girl got a CO (TJC) and WL(DHS)? Does putting DHS(WL) as 1st choice mean that I am giving up TJC(CO)?

If you put DHS (WL) as your first choice and TJC (CO) as your second choice, I believe that it means this:

                    - If the DHS (WL) gets converted to CO later, your child secures a spot at DHS.
                    - If the DHS (WL) does not get converted into a CO, your child will enter TJC.

Dear parents, first time I'm posting in this DSA discussion. My DD received WL for NYGH leadership but got rejected from RGS which is her first preference. She probably might still get into RGS with her PSLE results but she's also keen on the leadership training opportunity which I assume she will not get a chance if she gets into RGS using PSLE. To make this dilemma worse we also don't know whether NYGH WL will get converted. Appreciate any advice from experienced parents here. TIA!
Does your daughter want the school or want the \"Leadership\" domain ? Ask her - what does she want ?

If she desires \"Leadership\" a lot, then just accept the Wait-list ( from Nanyang Girls High ).

                      Because

                      assuming that
your girl actual PSLE results released in November 2022 managed to qualify for RGS Cut off point (via S1 posting),
                      very, very unlikely that
she will get back her \"Leadership\" in RGS.
                      Why ?

                      Because

during DSA (RGS) ( tests cum interview ) conducted, RGS panel of DSA management already very thorough, in considering who to give out the (COs and Wait-lists) to, amongst suitable applicants. If she were to enter RGS, her past DSA application record is still with them, and all the comments by them why she is not successful for Leadership (RGS) domain, are all kept there. They can always reference back, to her existing DSA application record.

                      So,
tell your daughter that even if she were to enter RGS via S1 posting, in the end, she won't get back the Leadership that she want. On the contrary, be mentally prepared to join and to accept some other Cca in RGS, instead.

                      Also, come January,
the audition process for respective Sec 1 Cca(s) in RGS, is cut throat competition, just to alert this first.
Very, very competitive, this Cca Audition exercise (process), that the Sec 1s go through, come every Term 1 when they newly joined RGS.

                      Frankly,
if I were your daughter (in her shoes), if \"Leadership\" means a lot to me, I will gladly accept NYGH (Leadership) WL, and forget about RGS. But, this is my own personal opinion, only. You all don't need to agree with me.

DHS has offered you a Waitlist (WL) and TJC has offered you a CO.

                        If your choice order is:
                        1st Choice: DHS (WL)
                        2nd Choice: TJC (CO)

Outcome: MOE will see if any student who is offered a CO by DHS rejects the offer. If there are, students on WL will then be considered. Note that your CO to TJC is protected. Should you not be offered the WL to DHS, you will still get your CO to TJC.
