If answer English LC wrongly, lost 1 or 2 marks, per question ?
-
For English LC, 1 mark per question.
-
Anyway, the LC exam is done. Let’s move on. Harping over what happened yesterday is as useful as me wishing I bought the right numbers in the Singapore Pools Mega Hong Bao draw.
-
Some people are trying to calculate the precise marks lost so they can know whether to give up their DSA CO/WL for entry via PSLE score.
Every year we speculate that that’s the intention

That presumes that the answers of the majority (or any given here at all) are correct.

Anyway, I just think that this is an exercise in futility but please don't let me stop others from discussing what may or may not be right or wrong answers. -

For me who don't have any kid sitting for PSLE - is also curious to find out what are the correct answers to these questions.

For discussion purposes…
I noticed that there are some Prelim English compo topics which are trending towards moral values/school values. Versus the usual incident-based topic like A Celebration, A Promise, A Discovery…
Examples:
- Perseverance
- Responsibility
- Self-Discipline
- Never Give Up
- Trying Your Best
- Being Determined
- Being Curious
- Being Thankful
- Feeling Grateful
- Forgiveness
My question: do u think it is acceptable for the child to write them as a reflective essay for PSLE? Or do examiners expect P6s to still base the compo on a single incident/story? -
Context clues are impt

PSLE allows for expository essays. So while it is not necessary to write narrative essays, reflective essays are also not exactly expository essays. So have to be careful here.

Oh, that’s interesting. I didnt know that!
PSLE allows for expository essays. So while it is not necessary to write narrative essays, reflective essays are also not exactly expository essays. So have to be careful here.
So for example, to write an expository essay on “Responsibility”, child would have to start with the definition, then expand to types of responsibility, eg. Responsibility to self, to family, to nation…? No personal comment on the good or bad of having responsibility?
Is that what you mean by expository essays?
