In this case, 自己国家根本没亡,匹夫也无责啦!
国家兴亡,匹夫有责.[/quote]
The Ukrainians are not invading Russia, so why should the Russian young men and reservists have the 责 to be mobilised to guard those 4 states that their President is unilaterally and illegally staging referendums and occupying as its own?!
\"There were a lot of young people, a lot of people trying to get away from Putin,\" he said.
Aleksey, 40, a construction worker, plans to stay in Mongolia until the situation in Russia improves, and said he would do whatever it takes to avoid the war.
\"We are not afraid, but why do we have to fight in Ukraine, why?” he asked. \"If other countries would attack Russia, we would fight for our country. But why are we going to Ukraine? For what?\"

Since many years ago, I start not to believe those stories in the 所谓 "Western Media" because they are not neutral anymore. Anyway, I am not going to argue who is right ot wrong here. To me, I feel the pain for those Russians in Eastern Ukraine and hope that President Putin can protect them.

many Russians fled (escaped) to Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia)

For me, I believe evidences rather than stories or any one particular media. Cross-check use my analytical skills to decide for myself right fr wrong & who is the protagonist or who took evil action. If evidence shows a country’s sovereignty has been attacked & ppl incl children die & if one lie to their own ppl they’re not doing a war but military operations then the evidence doesn’t match what the great liar presented to his ppl & the world.

Putin will not protect his ppl but the wealth he robbed fr his country & desire to continue his power & his lie to his ppl. He is conversely sending innocent men to an unjust war. I can feel sorry for the Russians w/o power, but make no mistake the Perpetrator himself shld not be given an iota of sympathy for he doesn’t hv even an once of conscience. He doesn’t care if the total of his actions will cause world inflation, nor does he care for escalating prices that the 3rd world will not afford & go hungry. He only care he cannot loose face & he’s the devil that will not admit his evil not just to Ukrainian but to humanity.
The rest of media are just noise trying to keep their journalistic jobs. -

I haven't across a war in the entire history of the human race that's just (or arguably, unjust).

The concept of just causes was developed by St Augustine in the 4th century (bellum iustum). He believed that the only just reason to go to war was the desire for peace. In his view, just causes are:
- Defending against attack
- Recapturing things taken
- Punishing people who have done wrong
Philosophically, it is built on \"for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer.\" In practice, the idea of just cause is open for interpretation (as many nations have done in justifying their past actions e.g. in Iraq, in Afghanistan, in Syria, in Lebanon).
Adopting the above concepts to the situation in Ukraine, Putin would have been justified in:
- Defending against attack
NATO was a military alliance founded in 1949 against the Warsaw Pact. The Warsaw Pact, if the term seems unfamiliar, was dissolved since 1991. Yet, NATO (worth repeating, a military alliance) had been expanding further and further east to take in former Soviet bloc countries. Should it surprise anyone that Russia sees NATO enlargement, especially courting Ukraine, as a threat?
We should feel sorry for Ukraine, for it ended up being a chess board of the West (who have largely abandoned them) and Russia.
- Punishing people who have done wrong
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-cohen-ukraine-commentary-idUKKBN1GV2TY (way before the war), a lot had been said about the radical right-wing groups and neo-Nazi movement in Ukraine. In 2021, Russia initiated a resolution on \"combating glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to fuelling contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance\". Ordinarily, it would have been a simple 'yes' vote but extraordinary, two countries literally vote against a resolution against Nazism, neo-Nazism and so on. Guess which two?
We can, obviously, as the media in the West has done, argue that the operations in Ukraine isn't just. Regardless of the 'justness', war is a bad thing, but to think of Putin as the only evil doer hellbent on destroying the world is naive and laughable. The collective leadership of the West should really hold up a mirror and look into it as well.
Notwithstanding, I do feel sorry for all the innocent citizens without power that were dragged into this conflict (and that includes us  ). All of the politicians in power in the West (and that includes Putin) clearly doesn’t have an ounce of conscience. Their interest in maintaining their stranglehold on power, at the cost of everyone else, is truly astonishing.
Thankfully, for better or worst, we have reached the end-game now. Winter is coming. With the referendum and mobilisation of the military reserve, the rules have changed. The conflict in Ukraine is all but over.
