      Sure thing! Go ahead be my guest, knock yourself out hdb....[/quote]
      May I give you my 2 cents’ worth, P1 mummy :
      You may attend school, gain knowledge, become learned, sit for school exams, PSLE, “O”s and “A”s but still remain uneducated.

        Wah.

        This one needs a lot of imagination.
        Creative way of testing a concept they are so familar with.

        Make Numerator the same…
        ⅔A = ⅞B

        14/21 A = 14/16B

        5u = 30
        1u= 6
        37u = 37 x 6 = 222

            I stared at the question hard (last night on YouTube) and did not came to the above solution first.

            Mine was:

            The following may help the p5,p4.

            Since 1/8 of B + 30cm = 1/3 of total length.

            X by 3

            3/8 of B + 90 cm = total length.
            (Re draw B in the form of 3/8 B + 90)

            5/8 B = 60cm.
            Solve for B

            B + 30 = A

            I have trained myself to totally forget about algebra when I’m helping my child with pri level math.

              Does anyone know

              1. if a school’s cut off is AL9(M), it means the last student that applies for the school last year has a AL9 + HCL merit right?
              2. if so, if my child get’s AL8, does she has a chance in the school or no chance because she has no HCL?
              3. For a school with cut off at AL9 (M), between a student with AL8 with no HCL and a student with AL9 + HCL merit, the school will admit which student first?

              Thanks much

                AL score has first priority. Then higher mother tongue grade.

                AL 8 score with no hcl will get in first before AL9M. And for this AL8, it's regardless of order of choice too.

                If COP is AL9M, the one who score AL9M has to put as 1st choice, and may subject to ballot too.

                  Same here, and that was the hardest part of my \"coaching\" efforts. Having to unlearn algebra and relearn \"new maths.\" 🙂

                    And then, after un-learning the algebra, have to re-learn the (very simplest) algebra in P6 to coach the kid. Just the very simplest type - sometimes algebra is the quickest way to solve a P6 problem in exam.

                    Hope the MT and Sci revision are going well this weekend!

                      Ha, yes! Is Algebra so bad that they won't teach it to the P students?

                      As for revision, I think MOE should try to get the exams done across one week (Monday to Friday). The weekend is great but I feel that my DS' momentum waned a bit. Might have been better to just chiong all the way and get it over with at one go.

                        Oh no no no…DS needed this weekend to finish up re-memorising impt CL and SC stuff.

                        We had our “horror week” already and it didnt work out well: Mon/Tues PSLE Orals, Wed prelim LC, Thurs/Fri prelims (+Mon/Tues prelims). That was a terrible disaster in terms of keeping up the mood and mental stamina.
