Either the person is lying or don't want to let you know so much detail about how her girl got in, in case u ask her next for further more info, which she not willing to disclose,
so just conveniently brush you off, by saying this. Some people are like this.

If u say someone grades are average, that Is possible.
But if you tell me, totally absolutely Zero no dance background at all,
Nar cannot be !

Sometimes schools may admit dsa dance students based on other criteria esp if:

- they do not have a large pool of candidates to choose from
- the untrained dsa girl is super flexible and can pick up routines quickly
- any boys are preferred, training or no prior training is not important
- the untrained dsa girl has other skill sets like trained in gymnastics or martial arts and can perform dance tricks like front walkover back walkover, Aerial, butterfly kicks etc

Hi Mummies,Im planning to put my daughter under DSA in 2023


I know this is too early,but I want to find out about DSA. I am trying to understand about this DSA thing.My daughter is currently in Enviromental Club as CCA is school.N she has been in gymnastics since she was 5 yrs old outside on weekends.Is she still able to apple DSA for gymnastic or is it CCA is counted to apply for DSA.

Appreciate if anyone could advise me further

Has she been in any competition or national performances or certifications? That's probably much more important as she is likely to be competing in a space where there are lots of others.

There are 2 different type of gymnastics :

\"Rhythmic\" gym and
\"Artistic\" gym.

To apply for either gym,
the child need to have participated in relevant competition(s), before,

regardless of whether

your girl has learnt & acquired the gymnastic skills before, inside her own primary school's Cca premises / compound

or

acquired the skill set externally, outside her school.


Why ?

Because many contestants (applicants) applying for the same domain as your child, they are all very, very competitive, and many have won medals, before.

Here, we are talking about the Secondary ( DSA ) schools receiving not just a few,
but several hundreds of P6 applicants concurrently, all applying for the same domain.

Definitely not. That’s y they have WL to cover the declined COs

If u get CO for 1st choice school, then surely accept (and reject other COs if any). If CO only given for a 2nd or 3rd choice, there is probability of decline to try for 1st choice.

I'm sure there are also parents/students who may elect to skip the DSA COs altogether and take their chance with the PSLE results. The DSA is a great way to enter certain schools but some may prefer not to be encumbered with an activity which is made compulsory due to the DSA. Of course, many students love and enjoy their passion but not all have such a burning desire especially as they start to mature in secondary school and have different interests. So, not all COs will be accepted and as @AHsDad said, that's where those with WLs may get lucky.
