I m just hoping that whatever they do..think think and think about the consequences.
Unfortunately, mad ppl don’t think. They just act on impulse, self-pride & trying to inflict sufferings on others to ‘conquer’ and control and they think then they’ll be great! That’s the dictator mindset

Fret not. Everyone is thinking about the consequences…
Except the thinking goes along the line of “what is in it for me (or my country)?”
As long as you, or someone else is paying the price, and not me, it’s a good “consequence”.

The Hungarian Prime Minister has stated his \"hope for peace\" in Ukraine in the Washington Post:

Won't go to the extreme lah ***

IMHO, between now and 8 Nov (US mid term elections) and 15 & 16 Nov (G20 Summit), we will be seeing a lot of NATO (no action wayang only), or firecracker (bang bang bang) but very little and limited impact on the actual ground situation. After that, US and Europe will come to some kind of compromise with Russia that allow both sides to claim victory. As for Ukraine, Ukraine who? Both sides have 'form' on this kind of thing throughout history.

*** The only exception is when Ukraine does something crazy like attacking Russia. So far, US and Europe will only provide weapons that keep the fight in Ukraine but not extend beyond that. If Ukraine tries to do another 'Kerch Bridge\", we may see a more severe response from Russia.

                  99% will win.
It's a bit hard to see how Ukraine can win.

Why then is the Ukrainian govt so foolish to volunteer as a sacrificing lamb for the US if there is nothing in for the Ukrainians?

If the US and Nato are so unhappy with the Russians then should fight head on with them to show the world who is the real boss than use a 3rd hand to do the job. This will send a strong signal to the ROW that the US is still the strong leader (or big bully) that it once was apart from its strong USD and military prowess. Keep it simple.

If the US and Nato are so unhappy with the Russians then should fight head on with them to show the world who is the real boss than use a *3rd* hand to do the job. When's the last time US / NATO take on someone their own size on a battlefield? Ultimately, 核大国不打核大国, but for everyone else? Fair game.

TBF, I don't think Ukraine was expecting Russia to attack them (even Zelensky didn't think it would happen). In politics (and just about everything else), when there is a willing payer / buyer, there will be a willing seller. Otherwise, why should \"lobbyist\" (in American politics) even exist? At the end of the day, TANSTAAFL. One cannot be expecting only intake without any output (sacrifice). Nonetheless, as long as you, or someone else is paying the price, and not me, it’s a good “consequence” (for me). There may be nothing in for \"most\" of the Ukrainians, but there are plenty of in for \"some\" Ukrainians.

Thanks for elucidating the grey bits behind the scene.

Hopefully, the large number of Ukrainians will vote out this Zelensky govt in the next election (if there still is). Pity the people of Ukraine, It will take many years to re-build the country again. Hopefully again, the ROW can see the vicious intent of the *leader* and not naively think that they are the ones maintaining the world order (their own order rather).
