Yes, your daughter should take up the IP offer,

          1) if she is interested to join Victoria Junior College, in year 5. Not interested in going elsewhere, other JCs.

          2) if she is looking forward to IP curriculum, starting in Year 3.

          3) if she shows no interest in going to the (Polytechnic nor to any IB curriculum Institution of Higher Learning, come year 5)

              If she want to go
              (RI or Hwa Chong)

or go IB (ACSI or SJI)

or go overseas for some bridging University program,
instead of go to Victoria Junior College,
then is better that she sit for \"O\" level exam. Since she has been offered a place in IP, at end of Sec 2, chances are she will also ace, in her O level results.

Ask your daughter what she wants. Via her own Cca inside this school, she would have met a number of Cca Seniors (from Year 3 & 4) cum fellow peers (from Year 2), who are from the IP stream. By talking to them, your daughter would have already gathered lots of intelligence info first hand, from her fellow Cca mates throughout her past 2 years of Lower Secondary time spent with them, regarding what IP course inside Cedar entails. So, she herself would have already known inside her heart, whether she really want IP, or not for IP, since she has now been offered.

Alternately, she can also seek advice, from her own Sec 2 Form Teachers or subject Teachers, those whom she can connect with. You may also talk to the VP, for advice.

              Another way out is,
since at end of Sec 2,
she already know what Year 3 subject combination she going to pursue,
regardless of whether continue to remain inside the O level track or Transfer across into new IP (Year 3),

if your daughter is not sure how Victoria Junior College is like,
but have a list of \"burning\" questions inside her,
parents can also help to clarify her doubts. Find a suitable time, to speak directly to the VP (Academic) in charge at VJC, address all your \"burning\" questions, concerning what IP (in Year 5 and Year 6) at VJC, Is like. From there, u can gauge how the culture, learning environment in VJC, is like.

If eventually, your girl's heart do settle for IP (starting Year 3), then look forward. Don't look back anymore, at the O level track, start to regret this, regret that. Move forward, look forward.

Thank you, for kind reply, yishunmummy

                =============================
Students who are seeking Transfer into Cedar Girls school, at the end of Sec 2.

At the end of Sec 2, there is a lot of Transfer movement, going on.

                Suppose
you are a student from another Secondary school, planning (intention) to seek Transfer into Cedar Girls Secondary school, starting Sec 3 (O level track),

                And

                1)
                Supose
you have a natural flair towards English Literature and therefore, intend to take up \"Elective (English Lit) as the \"half\" subject to accompany the other half Social Studies,

                then
don't bother to seek Transfer into Cedar Girls Secondary, anymore.

                Why ?

                Because

Cedar Girls Secondary offered only either Sec 3 \"Elective History\" or \"Elective Geography\", as their \"Half\" subject, to accompany Social Studies.
                Cedar does not offer any
                \"Elective English Literature\" nor \"Elective Chinese Literature\", whatsoever.

                That is,
if you are strong in languages (English or Chinese), and
                wish to pursue \"Elective Literature\".

May I know how many students attended the briefing? Wanted to gauge the number of students shortlisted for a dual track iP/O level schools.

                      Dear parents,

Any transport services to Cedar from West (Choa chu kang area)? I am considering Cedar for my girl, but far away from home. Would be helpful if anyone has info on transport services (at least one way in the morning)

At the moment, if u refer to this school bus service (Cedar Girls), no school bus travel to the west

However, u can contact the vendor, ask whether next year (2023), can open a small mini school bus, to fetch students from the west ? Who knows, maybe there are parents similar to your situation, staying in the west too.

If is a small mini school bus, ask : minimum, need how many students , before the vendor willing to start operation ? At the same time, try to find out, who else (besides your daughter), staying in the west, also keen in Cedar Girls Sec ?
