Dear All, able to have up to date info between both school, as we are deciding between VS or SJI.
      Both are \"O\" level program.

      DSA via Track & Field.

Proximity will not be an direct issue, hence please advise.
To add on what others have said, my impression is SJI seem more prestigious. I feel if your boy is really into track and field, VS is the choice.

Your son plan to go overseas uni to study, next time? If Yes, then go SJI.

        Why ?

At end of Sec 2, your son can transfer into IB (Sec 3). If he choose Victoria school, then IB (Sec 3) opportunity is gone.

I think what phtthp meant is that SJI offers an opportunity for the student to pursue an IB program (which VS doesn't?). It's not that the opportunity to go to university is gone but rather that with VS, the opportunity to pursue the IB diploma is gone.

Just my guess. I'm also not following this closely.

                At end of Sec 2,
if your son is keen to transfer over from the O level track into IB-SJI (starting Sec 3), the opportunity is still there, if he were to choose SJI, because Victoria follow A-level, don't have any IB.

So, discuss with your son, is he interested in IB or not, at Sec 3?
                If Yes, can consider SJ.

If No, absolutely not keen in IB-SJI (Sec 3) at all, then choose either O-level ( SJI or Victoria school)

You still need to be doing really well in sec 1 and sec 2 to be allow to transfer to SJI IB in yr 3 right?

                  Not a guranantee right?

I think have to be mindful and careful with this line of argument.

Is everyone in SJI O level classes going to jump from O Level to the IB programme? Certainly not, but at what numbers? 1 student, 10 students or 50 students? If it's 1 student out of a 100, that's probably not an incentive, nor advantageous. If it's 50 students out of a 100, it's reasonable to be tempted (assuming IB is something the student wants).

Furthermore, admission to the 3rd year IB programme is a not a closed system that's exclusive to SJI students. SJI will https://www.sji.edu.sg/admission/o-level-n-integrated-programme/admission-to-integrated-programme-secondary-3-in-ay2023 from any secondary schools into their IB programme, as long as the student meets their eligibility and selection criteria.

Doesn't this mean that a student from VS which meets the criteria could in fact get into SJI's IB program in Y3?
