1. You can exclude NYGH and SNGS (IP) from the list. Even if NGGH or SCGS COP raises to 8(P), you will need to do 7 or better as you don’t have that “P” in HCL.
…
My DD got AL 8
Her school choices are
Nanyang Girls COP’21 =7
CHIJ St Nicholas (IP) COP’21 =7
CHIJ St Nicholas (Exp) COP’21 =9
SCGS COP’21 =8
MGS COP’21 =7
Cedar girls COP’21 =8
What do you think of these choices are they too confident choices or still worth trying?
(My DD status is foreigner, no HCL)
How to strategies and rank the priorities on these 6 high profiles girl schools?
Let’s say all these 6 schools don’t accept her, then what will happen?
…
2. The remaining 4 is up to you to decide which to eliminate. Bearing in mind that your daughter is a foreigner, any school in a balloting situation, your kid will have the lowest priority (likely no chance to ballot as Citizenship is the number one factor in a tie). Hence, you are effectively gambling on SCGS / MGS / CGSS. Frankly, out of the 3, it will be better off if you stick to only 2.
3. Your third choice would be SNGS (OP). Even then, there’s an element of risk since it’s a SAP school and if COP increases to 8(P), it’s bye bye for you as well.
4. You will need to come up with a new 4, 5 and 6 choice. Preferably with COP 9 or more. Otherwise, there’s a risk that the computer will post you to any school with vacancy, ie a school that’s likely to have a COP of 20 or more (that’s usually the indication that the school isn’t filled). -

bbpinksg,
You may also want to check the school fees for students foreigner (status), between
SCGS (Independent school) and Cedar Girls (government school).
Can go to these 2 Secondary schools’ website, check their school fees and compare their difference ($). -

Hihi, may I check is it a wise move to list RI as first choice and HCI as second choice ?
Kid’s result is 6(M). Or should just forget RI and put HCI as first choice as I believe there will be balloting for 6 at RI and will “waste” my first choice? Kid is undecided between the 2. Thanks -
My DD got AL8. Contemplating between SCGS (IP/O) vs MGS (O level). Any recommendations? What are the chances of MGS O- students getting transferred to IP in Y3?

The cut off for hci was 7m last year so if that’s any indication, if ur kid so happens to lose out in the RI ballot , HCI would be a good safety. But of cos that’s last year’s cut off
