Hi all,
My DD got AL8(M). We stay in the CCK/BP area. Below are her choices.
1) SCGS (IP)
2) River Valley (IP)
3) CHIJ St Nicholas (O level)
4) SCGS (O level)
5) River Valley (O level)
6) Nan Hua
I will like to seek advice from gurus here.
1)What are her chances of getting into the first 2 choices?
2)Or any better suggestion/strategy on other schools that we can choose?
3) Shall we put SCGS (O level) as 2nd choice? -

RVHS has O level?
Your DD choices similar with mine :boogie: -
Re: Malay Special Program…is it correct that it is a special case can bring the total bonus points up to 6?
So, affiliation -2, CCA LEAPS -2, MSP -2, total -6?
I’m trying to strategize for O levels. Worth the time and brain cells for an average student to get these extra 2 points? Or just spend the time concentrating on the L1R5 subjects? -
I believe max bonus points is 4 regardless whichever options you can take.

MSP is not the special case. The 6 points special case is CLEP (and I think MLEP and TLEP).

Hence, prob not worth the extra effort, esp if the MSP is not conducted in school. -

As https://www.moe.gov.sg/post-secondary/admissions/jae/admission-criteria:

You can get a maximum of 4 bonus points from a combination of any of these types:
Chinese or Malay (Special Programmes) or Bahasa Indonesia grade
A1 to C6
Admission to JC or MI: 2 bonus points
Hence, if you are already getting 2 from affiliation and 2 from CCA, MSP won't be able to net you any additional bonus. HOWEVER, if you are not thinking about the affiliation JC, MSP will come into play.
The ADDITIONAL 2 bonus points are for Malay Language Elective Programme (MLEP) and only for these JC (which offer the programme):

Hi All,
My DD got AL10. We live in Tampines.
Is this a good list of schools to put in.
Ngee Ann Secondary 12 (first choice as the COP range is 6-12, and it is nearby)
Cedar Girls Secondary 9
CHIJ Toa Payoh 10
Paya Lebar Methodist Girls 11
Temasek Sec 13
Dunman Secondary 14
We are SPRs and this is our first time going through this exercise, a bit confused. Appreciate if anyone can help advise how we should go about selecting schools and anything we should do differently.
Regards

If Ngee Ann is your first choice, it probably doesn't matter how you arrange the rest of the schools since that's very likely the one that you will be posted to.
