If you are alr considering Bukit View, slightly farther in Gombak is Hill grove COP at AL19 too.
Are you near option 2? Is this order by proximity?

Yes ....we wanted the schools by proximity.......... Hillgrove dont have MT. So, did not include it. jurong secondary came abruptly as it was my DD's dream school. However, I am not sure if to place the dream school at beginning or in middle. So I placed like this.

There are schools in AL22 - Westwood, but not MT. Queenstown - little far....so confused now

not much options for AL18 i think

Err. Obviously not ok… unless you wanted Jurongville and the rest are just fillers. Even then, I will probably put one school with COP 22 for safety cos schools in the 18-22 region tend to have bigger movement (+- 2 maybe) than schools at the higher end (+- 1).
I understand but not much options for AL18 considering the schools in proximity. :scratchhead:

Saw this being discussed elsewhere, also heard some personal stories. Anyone intending to pay for review of PSLE mark for Math?

Paper was supposedly easier than past years. Yet I counted at least 10 parents saying their kid’s Math grade was unexpectedly low (2-4 AL grades lower than prelims).

Yet MOE claims no bell curve…[/quote]
I would appeal to review results (if 2-4 AL grades lower than prelims) for closure but knowing that a change in results after an appeal is very rare.

Do note that there is an appeal fee (refunded if appeal is successful) and appeal must reach SEAB through the school within one week from the date of PSLE results release.

Note: Once in a while, you get to hear someone with a successful outcome.

          All the best.

Another considerations are the dismissal time and number of CCA days and timings, cca options too.

Some schools dismissed at 3pm, with two cca days, works well for FTWM.

All along (since more than 10 years ago), I believe that the grade for Chinese is quite curved upwards (based on the As my son and nephew got despite their half past six levels).

When I looked at my grand niece AL3 for Chinese, I sort of confirmed my speculation even more (she is a 'half mute' during oral conversation throughout her 6 years during school's practices and usually scored around 50% with teachers' frequent comment as 'inaudible', and I gave up training her on oral as 'not value for time'), her compo is so-so maybe 65% type, listening is ok around 90%, written is OK around 90%). Her school's averaged score usually was around 70s. She cannot hold a Chinese conversation or read another Chinese word out from her textbook vocab range (I trained her only for exam purposes due to her 'limited capacity').

So this AL3 seemed like a 'curved score'. Did anyone feel similar (as in your child's Chinese score is 'better than expected)'?

              Asking out of curiosity.

*She exceeded expectation of Eng and Chinese at AL3 and Science and Math at AL5 when I was forecasting AL5 for Languages (her Eng score in school usually around high 50s / low 60s incl prelim) and Science and an AL6 for Math (failed her Math or barely passed throughout her P6 school exams). It has been a tough 6 years of struggles for her and we are all glad that this segment ends on a higher note.
From my personal experience, I would say it's generally yes, and seemingly more evident for those who's usual range is AL4/5/6 - increment of 1 or 2 levels is quite frequently observed (which is why I always this observation and remind the students to push on till the last min - of cos, highlighting to them that they cannot just \"think/hope\", but rather, must \"act\" so as to increase the chances). Those who usually score high AL2 are normally able to make it to AL1 too. Therefore, I am usually quite optimistic about PSLE (and even O' Levels) CL & HCL results (key is to at least linger around the top end of the AL level you are in). I thought things may be different after the switch to AL grading but \"so far so good\" 😄

During the old days when they released National Stats for Quality Passes (A* and A), MT was usually around 7X% while the other 3 subjects (EL, MA and SC) were usually 4X%. E.g., In 2015, CL 73.1 %, EL 44.9%, MA 45.4%, SC 41.9%. The old PSLE Grade A is 75 marks and above.

If it goes by the same standard, a much higher percentage of students will get AL4 (75 marks) & better for MT than the other 3 subjects in PSLE.

However, there is no exact mapping between the old scores and the AL scores so it is not clear whether the above still applies today.

It is reported that around half of students taking standard subjects today score in the range of 75 and above when they came out with the AL score ranges.

              Hope this helps.
This was one of the info (school-level wise) from a school in the north-east that was shared with me yesterday. So, seems like there's still similar \"trend\".

              AL 1-5 and D-M = 65 and above

                Hi all,

My son, who is on the spectrum, scored AL19. We’re looking at the following schools and would appreciate any feedback on them in terms of student support, discipline and anything else you might like to share:

                1. Bedok South Secondary
                2. Changkat Changi Secondary
                3. Bedok Green Secondary
                4. Broadrick Secondary

Kid’s most keen on Changkat Changi as he’s in airplane nut and is keen on their SOAR program, but so far I don’t see much feedback on the school in terms of academics or student welfare etc. Hope to hear from those with children in the school.

Oh, really got successful cases? Cos all along in the forum (and teachers etc) everyone said the grade never changes even after review.

I’m not appealing (though our school briefed the entire hall on the appeal fee and process). I have 2 friends quite traumatized by the drop, still wavering cos any change will not impact the secondary school outcome anyway. Maybe just the satisfaction of getting a corrected cert.

My DD scored AL4 for Math in Prelim
But eventually got AL1 for PSLE so def easy that’s true
She’s been participating MO since we moved here (P4) but has some hiccup during her prelim 4 qns wrong (3 careless mistakes, 1 didn’t get the concept)

AL4 to AL1 is only 15 marks difference. To put things in context, that could just be about getting an additional 5 questions right. It’s not really that hard to do. Likewise, it’s also not really that difficult to drop from AL1 to 4 if you make 5 or more careless mistakes.

😂 yes that’s what we were thinking too! And sometimes performance may vary during exams due to stress and condition that day! (Unfortunately) like my DD science down from AL1 in prelim to AL3 in PSLE :spank:

I thought every school prelim papers are not the same? I told her not to use prelim scores as a benchmark
