Hello kssp, riding on SG_KP1's recommendation, you may wanna speak with the Mother Tongue department on reporting day (everyone is very helpful); explain your child's likely workload (CCAs, third language, etcetera) & they can advise you accordingly. Mother tongue periods are pulled out for all mother tongues & regardless of Higher/ Normal MT, so class allocation will Not be affected. If you drag your feet past the first week, most likely you can only switch from HMT to MT at the end of the year (if that regulation has not changed)

Hi everyone. My DS got 11(M). We stay in the east and he is considering Debate CCA.
1.Anglican High School 12 P
2.Chung Cheng High School 11M
3.Temasek Secondary School 13
4.Tanjong Katong Secondary School 14
5.Geylang Methodist Secondary School 15
6.St Hilda Secondary School 15

We are aiming for Anglican as it has debate club . Do give us any feedback if needed. TIA️

Decent chance if he is SC but provided the COP does not change to AL9 this year. Do deliberate on a good 2nd and 3rd choice school that he likes.

We are SC, that's the worry we have, and if 2nd choice (Nanhua high) moves up to AL10, then we will have to face balloting and the ones who put as first choice will get in first.

Provided those who put first choice will have to be AL 10 and better then they get in first before your son. Quite sure there will be more AL 11s picking Nan Hua than AL 10s and better so therefore I think is a good risk to take to put it as 2nd choice.

Yes this is true. It’s either they decided to take a huge risk or they do not understand how the posting works. I know many are still confused by the Choice tie breaker. Some think that choice comes before scores. So the new choice option is kind of making a lot confused.

Can I understand the logic of why some parents put a lower COP school at choice 2 onwards?

For example.
1. Clementi Town (14)
2. Bukit Batok Sec (15)
3. CHIJ St Theresa 's (13)
4. Fuhua Sec (13)
5. Jurong Sec (15)
6. Gan Eng Seng (15)

Choice 3 and 4 are lower than choice 1 and 2.

Trying to understand the logic or strategy behind this. I thought it shd be lower to higher but I’ve seen quite a number of choices which are up down up down. So wanted to understand.
