Just giving another line of thought. Sometimes teachers and peers can make a difference. Can consider starting with HCL first as does not need to take CL in JC if she achieves a certain grade (I think D7 or better). But of course if she is very certain, then opt for CL from the start if the school allows it
Hi may I just ask that the min grade in order not to take chinse in JC is D7 in Sec 4 for Raffles Girls' School?

              2021 RI Year 5 (JC1) cohort:-
Students who have obtained a grade of D7 or better in Higher MT at the GCE ‘O’ Level need not offer H1 MTL, as they are deemed to have fulfilled the H1 MTL requirement for admission to the autonomous universities.

It's best to double-check with your daughter (if she is in Year 4) or HCL teacher.

              All the best.

Note: Quite a number of students opted to continue with H1 MTL in JC as they aim for better grades.

                  https://form.gov.sg/633537a7a2d8f700124851f5

                  ...
                  Should vacancies still arise,
after the S1 posting exercise is over,

                  inside RGS Appeal form content,
for the 3rd point from the Top,
                  i interpret it as ...

                  1) if say,
u have ever applied for DSA (RGS) before
& your DSA outcome is a rejection, after all the tests / attending interview, etc.

                  and
                  let's say
this year 2022 RGS Cut off point is 6,
                  same as last year,

and u happen to score AL 6, but balloted out,
                  then ...

                  no need to appeal anymore.

                  2) if u have never applied for DSA (RGS) before,

                  And

If your AL score happen to be equal to this year's RGS Cut off point,
                  then,

                  u can proceed to appeal.

\tOh, no. I think you have misunderstood.

It actually means that the appealing student’s PSLE score should meet the school's cut-off score of the posting year. And NOT to appeal on the basis of other talents and achievement (without meeting the Cut off score) as they should have done so during DSA.

Ie. if the score of the posting year is AL5, then please appeal with a AL5 score. Not >AL5. It doesn’t matter if you had tried DSA or you’re the national player or head prefect. As talent and achievements had already been considered during DSA.

This is the 3rd point on the appeal form,
“Students who wish to gain admissions to RGS on the basis of other talents and achievements would have had the option of participating in the Direct Schools Admissions (DSA) Exercise, which was completed in September 2022.”
