So those kids born in 2018 (take PSLE in 2030) will attend ACS Pri at current site for P1 to P5 and then go Tengah for P6? If so, those born 2018 onwards should find ACS Junior more appealing if they want to remain at one location for all 6 years. Did I understand the info correctly?

Unless ACS J becomes part of the triangle with the exit of ACS P. I would assume the \"city-living\" mindset still holds the attraction for most parents. I believe most owners are landlords firstly and having a choice school nearby for Singaporeans is but 1 of numerous marketing angles.
Yes, but once they eventually vacate Winstedt Road for good, the properties near there will essentially have no major selling point.[/quote] -

Not precisely. ACS P students admitted at Barker will finish at P6 at Barker even though the administratively and officially the school moves to Tengah in 2030 but leaves part of the \"school\" in spirit at Barker to take care of the remaining students admitted at Barker until they finish P6. So from 2030, it may be viewed there will be two campuses for ACS P if it is easier for you to understand.

I suspect the underlying reason to move ACS P to Tengah could be due to the ACS board desire to raise the academic standards of ACS. By reaching out to girls and those less privileged but more academically inclined students outside the Bukit Timah belt, ACS will be able to reach out to a larger pool of students with higher learning ability. And that is why MOE is moving ACS (P), which offer GEP program to Tengah instead of ACS (J).
Once all dust is settled, we could potentially see ACS Barker becoming a Co-ed secondary school as some ACS boys from Tengah may not be comfortable with all-boy schools. For sure the affiliation COP standard for ACS will increase as well due to larger pool of students. -
Hi
MOE advocates all schools are good schools. Putting ACSP in a new neighbourhood Tengah is a good start. I hope they continue to diversify the school demographics to cater to parents who are not living in the city. Good investment to buy condos or HDBs in Tengah now ! -
So,
for parents who enrol their children from 2030 P1 intake onwards (born in year 2023) -
joining ACS (Tengah) primary will only benefit the boys, but not the girls, since
- boys still have affliation to the O-level track (ACS Secondary).
But,
no obvious benefit nor any advantage to the girls,
since NO affliation to the O-level track (Methodist Girls' Secondary, @ Blackmore drive)

Thanks. I just read that ACSP will continue to admit Pr 1 boys in 2030 at Barker but it will be a smaller cohort.

I wonder why didn't ACS Board decide to just move ACSJ from Winstedt to Tengah instead of moving ACSP and then move ACSJ to take the Barker premises. -

I guess it's because ACS Junior was originally at Barker Rd. ACS Primary was originally at Coleman St, so they don't have the same historical ties to the Barker Rd site.

Besides your above valid reasons stated, other reasons can also include

1) there are many foreigners or PRs who have converted their children into SG citizenship. On Saturdays, sometimes if u were to visit community centre, u can see so them of these newly converted citizens saying the Singapore pledge.
The current enrolment pool in ACS primary is not enough to accommodate the needs of these newly converted citizenship parents, who also want their kids to study in elite schools. By expanding the intake to absorb girls, not just boys, now give chance to these newly converted SG citizens and their kids, to study in elite primary schools, too.
2) Tengah is far, from city.
To lure more people to stay in Tengah so far away, must build some attractive, elite primary schools over there.
3) after settled down ACS (Tengah) shifting, can also do likewise, build or put another new ACS primary school branches in other heartland neighbourhood, as well. No need to restrict or confine to only ACS (Junior) in the city area, nor in ACS (Tengah).
If this model roll out, then will be similar to the CHIJ Catholic schools concept, where u have
Primary schools family CHIJ (Toa Payoh, OLGC, Nativity, Katong, Kellock, St Nick) and
Secondary schools family CHIJ (Toa Payoh, Theresa, Katong, the one located in Sengkang, St Nick), in different parts of heartland district (neighbourhood) in SG.
4) if ACS (Tengah) can take off, the same can apply to RI, too.
Build another RI (Tengah) or
SJI (Tengah) or
Hwa Chong (Tengah) or
Victoria (Tengah) or somewhere else in another neighbourhood,
besides the expensive Bishan town area, where some of the hdb flats there are sold past $ 1 million.
