lazygal, maybe discuss with her that you found notes and teachers are not up to your standard, show her the difference, ask what is her opinion on changing school? Is she comfortable with njc now? Does she want to change school even? 6 yrs, anything can happen, still too early to say this is a “bad” decision. I have seen the best remains the best wherever they go. The best you can do now, show her the difference, let her think about it, give her moral support on whatever decision she made, avoid stressing her too much. For me, I prefer my child make mistake or wrong decision now rather than later. Things are much easier to correct and mitigate the consequences, in this case you have the access to “better” resources. I’m sure MOE is watching this seriously as well. No need to worry too much

she is comfortable in njc. and kids u know at that age r quite resistant to changes.after speaking to her, she feels abit regret on her decision, and says she will work harder in nj to compensate for the lack on the school part (if she is unable to trsf out)

Chances are you talk to a random girl in nygh/rgs, she will probably also have grouses about the standard of teaching of certain teachers, useless notes etc etc…


The very on ones if they meet with such dismal teaching May band together and compile their own better notes. So one way to stay above all these is to be friends with very “on” classmates. When they all feel lost, they will think of a way.

hi, saw that NJC A level results only 82.1 (medium). seems like it is dropping evey year. at the rate it is dropping, it is gtg to be at the bottom of the mid tier JC very soon. am very worried as my gal is in JH1 this year. and saw many bad comments on reddit about the teachers and notes esp for Bio, PW and GP. am seriously hating my daughter's choice of school when she can get into RGS or NYGH with her psle results

Quite sad though.. Expecting NJC to be on par with VJC since both school has the same cut-off points. But once again it has proven not the case, while VJC continued to perform well, NJC has gone from bad to worse over the last 3 years.

With the medium of 82.1, so I am not surprise the mean has fallen out of the 80 range.

Victoria JC has been fighting very hard, to stay afloat, within the Top 5 JCs.

i m wondering parents with kids still in the school, esp at SH level, is it possible to talk to or write to the principal to express our concern with the school A level results? and find out what the school plan to do to arrest the downward spiraling of the school results?

You may want to check with the school or other parents if there will be level briefing for parents. The principal and other senior staffs will normally be present and there should be Q&A session for parents to raise any concerns too.

Go, check when are the parents briefing for Upper Sec (3 & 4) conducted ? Are these briefing sessions already over, or coming soon this week or next week, ie. the last week of February 2023 ?

If briefing(s) are coming soon,

1) find out who are the level Head Teachers in charge, at Sec 3 and 4 level. Get these Tr in charge email address(es).


2) After u find out their names, write an email with all your \"burning\" concerned questions that give rise to your worry & concern that u need to address , to the NJC school Principal, at the same time cc inside this same email to
VP (Academic) + all those Sec 3 and Sec 4 level head(s) + your current Sec 1 level head, as well. In other words, keep all these people involved, inside the same loop.

do u need to involve these UPPER Secondary (3 & 4) level head(s) ?

Because

Your daughter is only 2 months, into Sec 1. If you cc only the lower Sec level Teachers in charge, they may not take any action to improve the current situation inside NJC, ie.
the dropping A level results produced in recent past years,

Because

Inside their mind, they may think oh ! your daughter is only in Sec 1 now, still far away from Sec 4. But as u know, improvement to academic or to salvage / rescue a situation, takes time besides putting in effort. Definitely not an overnight change recovery process, so fast. Hence, that is why go and cc the UPPER Sec level head Teachers in charge too, not just talk to the P + VP only.

Where VPs concerned, only cc the VP ( Academic ) in charge. No need to involve the VP (Administrative in charge) at all. Inside a JC, different VPs are responsible for different tasks and KPI.
