The critical information would be:
1. What sport? Team or individual?
2. Nationals as in NSG? Or Pesta Sukan / Singapore Open?
3. Color of medal(s)?

Some sports are highly competitive. Some sports are not. Some sports have multiple “competitors” for DSA place. Some sports less so.

Prima facie, the kid seems to be competent in the sport. Would likely be invited for a trial / chat. Whether the kid can get in will depend on pt 1 to 3 above. Without those details, hard to say. You should apply and hope for the best.

If we apply to a school that has both IP AND O Levels and indicate IP as preference, if the kid does not get IP, will the kid be offered OP in that school?

Has 2 COs but went to the other one. I believe sota is purely by dsa, so they would most likely have sufficient places for interested applicants.

You have to refer to individual school as there isn’t a standard answer.

For example, VS states:
“As Victoria School is a dual track school, applicants are to indicate a preference for O Level or Integrated Programme (IP) or no preference. We may offer applicants a track that is different from applicant’s indicated preference, based on school’s assessment of applicant’s suitability.”

Anyone knows parents whose child was a Top 50 finalist in the SOTA ART COMPETITION last few years? How did it help in the SOTA DSA or does it help in anyway? Thanks

I'm quite certain that being in the Top 50 helped to secure my DS' (VA) CO into SOTA. It would seem disingenuous (or at least odd) for SOTA not to use their own competition as a means for identifying potential students in their school. It is certainly not the only means for giving the student an advantage but I believe that it does help.

That said, I don't know if the SOTA Art Competition alone is sufficient. I suspect that it will need to be bolstered with other forms of recognition along the way plus reasonable academic performance.

Hi All,


May I check for DSA Sports, there are 10 supporting documents to submit? In report book already stated participation and medal, leadership role eg vice captain, monitor.

Can the below be submitted as all this not stated in the report book:

1) Certs given by the school eg. good character/leadership/star student
2) Participation certs for maths/science olympiad
3) GEP qualified to go for 2nd round (Passed 1st round) - No cert only notification letter
4) MOE awards certs
