        Hello,

        Any parent knows:

        1. If the Year 4 students want to continue their sports CCA in JC, do they need to attend try-out?
        2. Will the JC students of sports CCA will be divided into "Competitive" and "recreational" groups if too many students are there for one CCA?

        Thanks in advance!

Which specific Sports Cca, are u looking at ?

Inside RI, so many different type of Sports.
But not all the Sports have Recreation. Only a few Sports set up Recreation team :-

You may email or call the school to ask. From what I know there are 2 sports cca that specifically have the word recreational in them: recreational badminton and sport recreation. Other sport cca should then be non recreational.

Students who wish to apply for a H3 subject must meet the following criteria based on their overall performance in Year 5:

                • Obtained a pass in GP or Mother Tongue (where applicable);

                • Obtained at least a C grade in all content-based subjects, including KI (where applicable); and

                • Obtained at least a B grade in the pre-requisite H2 subjects

There may be a change in the H3 subject offering criteria on the part regarding where the grades will be computed from. I chance upon this in the recent briefing slides:

“Selection for H3 subjects is based only on the results of the Year 5 promotional examination papers.”

So it is not based on overall performance in year 5.

                      Hi Marina Collection,

In case there are recent changes made in RI,
                      best
to get your A-level son or daughter to clarify the following specific questions, with his own targeted H2 subject class Teacher / subject HOD
                      :-

                      1) is it only the Top 10% or the Top 15% of the entire JC1 cohort, then get a chance to pursue H3 subject, in RI?

                      2) how do u define this Top (10% or 15%), clearly ?

                      Is this Top (10 or 15) %

                      a) merely go by the targeted individual subject score alone, let's say your child is targeting at subject H3 Physics ?

                      OR

                      b) go by overall Performance ?

                      That is,
over and above doing well in year end JC1 H2 Physics subject, your child

must also concurrently at the same time do well OVERALL, in other 3 remaining H2 subjects as well, before he (she) can be offered H3 ?

                      In other words,
                      overall,
your child must also fall within Top (10 or 15)% overall,

                      as JC1 cohort inside comprises both ( IP + O-level JAE ) students ?

                      Why ?
                      Because
there is a huge difference, between

being Top (10 to 15)%, in just one single H2 Physics subject alone

                      vs.

being (Top 10 to 15)% in overall, 4H2 subjects.

                      ==========================

If is Top 10% by a single \"solo\" subject (eg. H2 Physics), then Is easy.

Just put the entire JC1 cohort year-end students names' H2 Physics marks / score into an Excel spreadsheet, sort them in descending order,
with the highest marks appearing right at the Top of Excel spreadsheet.
