Does anyone have comments on mpm centres at bishan, thomson, toa payoh and amk?

I am thinking about sending my k1 son to mpm, but wondering which centre will be better? I know bishan and thomson are like one-teacher operation where the teachers open the centre and have one classroom only. what about centres at toa payoh and amk? thanks.
Am I too late to reply to this thread ? Anyway, I heard that Toa Payoh is the most popular outlet....

Hi does anyone has any feedback on the MPM branch at Bukit timah Plaza?

Am thinking of enrolling my k1 girl for MPM but not sure if all the branches’ teachers are good. Anyone wanna advise me? I think I read somewhere that the Toa Payoh branch has good feedback?

            Hi jeanieg

My DD attends MPM in the West. As mentioned by some, their method is not about teaching during class. All levels are in the same class…its doing their worksheets, which seems interesting and at times challenging, practise practise practise and hopfully set them to think logically, in mathematical sense. She started in K2 last year and now that she’s in P1, we begin to appreciate where all these are leading to…its in line with what they are being taught in P1.

My view is that as long as the class size is not too big and that the teacher has an assistant to help, it doesnt matter which teacher. For me, location is more important as when they progress, its likely they need to attend twice a week (1 book each time) rather than once a week (cramp 2 books in 1 lesson) because it gets tougher and kids at that age, they lack the focus. Hope this helps with your selection…

Hi Gwen thank you for the advise. I didn’t know that mpm work that way. Think i had better do more research but it seems quite a popular school for parents with young kids right? Wow, 2 books in 1 lesson seems alot to cope. My girl in K1 doesnot seem to grasp concepts easily…wonder if she would be able to cope. So I assume the books are done in class and then finished at home? If you have the time can you tell me more? Would appreciate it very much.

                Hi to all!

Any parents have good/bad experiences of teachers at Siglap, Bedok Central or kembangan branches of Kumon? Any feedback is valuably welcome. Thought of sending my K1 DS for Maths. He is relatively slow in understanding the concept. The Roxy Sq branch is so popular that they are full!
                Thanks.

                  Hi there

Anyone knows of a good math enrichment program for preschool other than Kumon?

                  Thanks.

isn't kumon a mind training rather than maths enrichment?

                    :?

IMHO, Kumon does not "teach" concepts. It gives the child a lot of practice, builds up the discipline of doing maths regualry, trains the mind on concepts the child has imbibed, so is paced on what the child can already understand. It helps in the doing"it" than in why ?
