Science practical test constitutes 5% towards the overall SA2. It's worthwhile preparing for it as is quite easy to score. The test is either on one of the topics taught. No worries.

Just my 2 cents...I hope PH gives a Mock test before the Actual test so kids can have at least a proper hands-on to an experimental test.

You cannot memorise answers or practise and practise for Sci Pract Tests, unlike other subjects. These are some pointers to take note during the test:

1) Follow Instructions carefully
Following the steps in order, there is no such thing as do the important step first. Every step is important.

2) Accuracy
Measure and read properly. Make sure you have the correct, logical reading. Logic depends on how much knowledge you have on the topic or crudely put is, 'common sense'. If the reading seems illogical, check the experiment setup again.

3) Identify the variables and constant
Usually, there will be instructions on how to plot a graph/ chart using variables and constants (or readings). It will be the key to the question topic. If the variables and contants are identified correctly, you are on the right track.

3) Plotting of Graphs (if any)
Check that all the labels of axes and objects to be plotted are placed correctly and clearly. If the experiment is done correctly, the graph should look smooth and depict a pattern.

4) Conclusion
This is where the science knowledge comes in. Answer in scientific terms and relevance to the topic.

Basically, the results of the whole experiment must be credible, using the correct method. If not, trace back to where reading might be wrong. It is important to keep the work station clear and not messy. It helps to be organised.

Haha. I was enjoying myself spending time with my family during the hols. Now, this kiasu parent is back to see whether they are any interesting happenings in PH, engines gearing up for the new semester!
