Remember that it's not just a pri school nowadays. need to consider post primary such as affiliation to a secondary school.
Hi All,
The 1KM sch near me are Ai Tong Primary and Catholic Primary. And between 1KM to 2KM, i am looking at Kuo chuan primary school. No affliates and PV.
Based on last year statistics, which scholl has higher chance ?
And Phase 2C has more slots now ?
Thank you.
-

Since MOE closed down GYPS, the choices for those living in Bishan are fairly limited and very difficult. You will definitely need to plan for a back up option for Phase 2CS.

Just met with a friend who moved into a condo 1km from Ai Tong and St Nicks. Not alumni and no PV⦠what are the chances to get in? Backs ups?

Appreciate advice.
DS will be registering for p1 in 2024 and I not sure which school to apply.
1. Rosyth School (currently staying with 1km of the school and will qualify for Phase 2C. I noted there are many mega condos that will TOP this year and next year and that will increase competition)
2. Tao Nan School (have completed the required volunteer hours for Hokkien Huay Guan for Phase 2B, and am considering moving within 1km of the school for Phase 2C. However, competition seemed to have increased since the new home to school distance calculation changed last year?)
3. Ai Tong School (have completed the required volunteer hours for Hokkien Huay Guan for Phase 2B, and am considering moving 1km of the school for Phase 2C. While it is a less dense neighbourhood, there seem no other primary schools nearby if I failed to get a place in both phases?)
4. SJI Junior (have another house with 1km of the school, and will qualify for Phase 2C. Not sure if competition will increase after the news of ACS Primary moving to Tengah)
All above schools are ideal, but which one would give me the highest chances of successfully getting in, please? Thank you. -

In 2021,
Just met with a friend who moved into a condo 1km from Ai Tong and St Nicks. Not alumni and no PV.. what are the chances to get in? Backs ups?
Ai Tong 42 places for 86 applicants (205%) for those <1km.
St Nick's 40 places for 63 applicants (158%) for those <1km.
If you like to tikam, st nicks may be a slightly better choice, but then people might be attracted to st nicks because of this, so it's hard to say. -

Both schools are under Hokkien Huay Guan for Phase 2B, so she only did once (required hours).

Oh I see. I thought PV is for parents to get to know the target school better, so I am not sure if this really makes it better... but anyway, you are welcome for the info
