It is good to have but not as important or essential as one might think. For eg. If the affiliation cut off is at AL9 or 14, it is still not (generous) enough for a child who scores >AL 15. And for a school with affiliation cut off of >AL20, most students who do better will not choose to go back unless they have no better choices. Therefore, it is more ideal to choose a school that suits your child’s ability and beliefs then one with affiliation.
Affiliation to a sec school with generous cutoff points is such an important safety net. -

Yep, that was what i thought as well. With affiliates for secondary school.
Remember that it's not just a pri school nowadays. need to consider post primary such as affiliation to a secondary school. -
Hello Wise parents,
Would it make sense to move within 1km to ACSP to try for phase 2c? currently I am living 1-2km of Maris and can apply under phase 2B.
Appreciate all your wisdom! -

Maris Stella has mostly been bidding at 1-2km for Phase 2B but last year it bid at <1km, probably because of the flow over from Phase 2A due to the removal of Phase 2A(1) and 2A(2). That means you wouldn't be able to even bid in that scenario.

As to moving to ACSP, it depends on the time you have. If I'm you, I would keep the Maris Stella option open to see if I have a chance, and meanwhile secure a rental deal <1km from ACPS, to be activated in case I don't have a chance with MS. Fingers crossed and good luck. -

Hello @chief kaisu, does it mean that we would be able to use different addresses at different phases to ballot? meaning to say i can try at 2b for maris and then use a different address to ballot in 2c for ACSP in the event that i do not get maris in phase 2b?

IN FOCUS: Should children of alumni get priority for Primary 1 registration?
The announcement that ACS (Primary) would move to Tengah created a furore among former pupils, who worried about alumni priority for their children. CNA delves into the pros and cons of the alumni system. -

Actually, I'm just guessing. Can people change their address between phases, eg. Phase 2B and 2C?

I don't see why not. Has anyone tried doing so? -

Answer is \"Yes\".
Actually, I'm just guessing.
Can people change their address between phases, eg. Phase 2B and 2C?
I don't see why not. Has anyone tried doing so?
Why ?
Because
Husband may own one house, while the wife may own another second property.
However, 2 things are definite.
1) on that day of registration,
if the address shown on the husband and wife IC (identity card) are DIFFERENT, then the P1 Registration officer on the spot, will question u why.
2) K2 Parents,
whichever address has been used to register your kid into the Primary school -
The school has its own ways and means, to verify the truth.
If at any one time the school does a spot check, find that the parent is lying, then
school has the power, the authority, to kick the child out of the school, report to police.
This happened before in the past, where names of parents were splashed across the front page, Straits Times, to shame those impacted parents publicly. And because the full name & picture (face) of parent(s), usually, the father's face, are published publicly, the whole world know that u are cheating MOE, cheating entire primary school. Your boss, colleagues, friends, relatives, family all know what u had done, for those caught cheating.
So,
for K2 (kindergarten) parents who want to play this MOE-catch-liar
OR
cat-catch-mouse game,
they need to know in advance what are the consequences awaiting them, if they are caught lying. Don't play, play with MOE.
For genuine parents,
then no need to worry, because they will have peace. Can sleep soundly, at night. -
Greeting to all parents…
