Both schools are under Hokkien Huay Guan for Phase 2B, so she only did once (required hours).

Thank you for the information on ATS and SNGS, Chief![/quote]
Oh I see. I thought PV is for parents to get to know the target school better, so I am not sure if this really makes it better... but anyway, you are welcome for the info 🙂

        Take note !

only Ai Tong fall under Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan clan Association (SHHK).
        But NOT St Nick.

St Nick is a Catholic mission primary All Girls' school, NEVER ever come under SHHK organization.

If you want to volunteer under SHHK,
take note of the demanding number of hours clocked in requirement :
        is very strenuous, very \"siong\".
You can volunteer your time under the entity SHHK activities,
but not volunteer under the individual premises, Ai Tong primary school compound.
Because once u volunteer at SHHK,
you can pick and choose which primary school u want.
        Example
        You can join
Ai Tong or Chongfu or Taonan or Kong Hwa or Nan Chiau.
Allocation of volunteer slots is based on the needs of the school, & priority.

        At the moment,
not sure if St Nick still need any parent volunteer at all, under Phase 2B.
        Reason ?

        Because

        under Phase 2B,
every year, we have more than enough Catholic parents whose daughters are SG citizens, and living less than 1 km, fighting / competiting intensively hard, to join this primary school located in Ang Mo Kio, with affliation for 10 straight years, all the way to O level Sec 4, at an extremely GENEROUS affliation rate (Cut off point) of AL 14,
        while
the NON-Affliation Cut off rate for external pupils, is AL 8 (Merit, for PSLE Higher Chinese). It is not difficult at all, to achieve AL 14. See the great, wide contrasting generous margin of how much discount, been given for O level track ?

14 minus 8, is equal to 6 wide, generous discounted margin, given to affliated St Nick students.

As such, she is highly popular, in great demand.
Hard to get in. Many applicants competing fiercely, at Phase 2B !

For those who are keen in St Nick (IP), the Cut off point is AL 7 (Merit), based on last year 2022 Psle batch. But take note, for IP track : NO affliation.

        So,
do give St Nick school General office a call, confirm with them whether they still want any PV ?

        If the answer is NO,
        then
the only way to enter St Nick under Phase 2B, is to
        join Grass root level organisation,
if u are not a Catholic, by faith.

Initially, before they announced the affliation Cut off point, we guessed probably, St Nick may give affliation students, up to say, AL 12, for O-level track. Because hey, AL 12, is already very generous ! Some more, St Nick is a dual track school, still got the IP track, so the Affliation COP cant be set so low, right ?
But, when the school announcement came out officially that affliation Is set at AL ... 14, my jaw dropped. Wah ! SO GENEROUS !

In contrast, Ai Tong primary doesn't have any affliation, to Secondary school.

Affiliation to a sec school with generous cutoff points is such an important safety net.

It is good to have but not as important or essential as one might think. For eg. If the affiliation cut off is at AL9 or 14, it is still not (generous) enough for a child who scores >AL 15. And for a school with affiliation cut off of >AL20, most students who do better will not choose to go back unless they have no better choices. Therefore, it is more ideal to choose a school that suits your child’s ability and beliefs then one with affiliation.

Remember that it's not just a pri school nowadays. need to consider post primary such as affiliation to a secondary school.
Yep, that was what i thought as well. With affiliates for secondary school.

                  Hello Wise parents,

Would it make sense to move within 1km to ACSP to try for phase 2c? currently I am living 1-2km of Maris and can apply under phase 2B.

                  Appreciate all your wisdom!

Maris Stella has mostly been bidding at 1-2km for Phase 2B but last year it bid at <1km, probably because of the flow over from Phase 2A due to the removal of Phase 2A(1) and 2A(2). That means you wouldn't be able to even bid in that scenario.

As to moving to ACSP, it depends on the time you have. If I'm you, I would keep the Maris Stella option open to see if I have a chance, and meanwhile secure a rental deal <1km from ACPS, to be activated in case I don't have a chance with MS. Fingers crossed and good luck.

Hello @chief kaisu, does it mean that we would be able to use different addresses at different phases to ballot? meaning to say i can try at 2b for maris and then use a different address to ballot in 2c for ACSP in the event that i do not get maris in phase 2b?
