Yes. Take note. Every Monday, Polyclinic is very packed because Sunday is closed for Polyclinic, so if people fall sick on Saturday or Sunday weekend, Monday (the next day) becomes very crowed.
Anybody goes to the polyclinic for consultation?
One has to make an appointment. The application opens after 10pm the day before.
In the past, I walked in and just wait for my turn. My colleague had been turned away without an appointment.
While going to the GP is an option, the polyclinic is much cheaper.
Whoever need to visit Polyclinic on Monday, make sure that on Sunday night 10 pm, book an appointment slot. Don't wait until Monday morning itself, then come & start booking. Often, too late, no more slot on Monday. -

When happens if one suddenly feels unwell on Mon early morning and cant go to the polyclinic bec all slots hv been taken up.
This is not the case in the past. One could simply walk in though need to wait for hours before seeing the doc. -

Resorting to personal attacks when you can’t win an argument?stay behind when they grow old.
What you are proposing just makes Singapore look small-minded.
It would seem that your view points are so coloured and fixated that you automatically reject any suggestion that may impact the PRs.
If the points raised are superfluous, why did you bother responding for 3 days non-stop?
Continue allowing in younger PRs while imposing a deadline of sort for retiree PRs as we enter super-aged status in 2030, is still small-minded? -

Last time, in the past years ago, I could go Polyclinic & just wait for a few hours, even though I did not book any slot last time on that day of visit. But lately, things have changed.
Not only booking a slot changed. But also, last time, if I need doctor to write me a referral letter, I could receive the referral letter after waiting for a period of time, within the same day. But now, cannot. Things have changed, for this too. The staff at Polyclinic said that if I still do not receive any notification from anyone AFTER ONE week's time awaiting to go to a certain department in a hospital, I can call them back at this telephone number (a number which they gave me), to check the status.
I asked the staff, why must wait for one week so long ? Staff replied that I am not the only one in entire SG, from Polyclinic (Bedok) visit alone that day, that requests to see doctors at NUH hospital, at subsidized costs. She said no choice, wait lor. -

To me, this is a degradation in the provision of service.

Ok, better to die than to fall sick

let more students go into medicine better right? Then we have more doctors.

We just discovered the new appointment system when my daughter had to go to the polyclinic last week (normally we go to GP clinic). Having an appointment did make the waiting time shorter - about 15 mins compared to over an hour when I last did a walk-in. I suppose it is unlikely to be able to see a doctor if you walk-in now - since the available appointments would likely to taken up earlier? But it does mean that the staff are not overworked.

The cost of seeing a GP is higher though, which is something that govt or employers could think about - perhaps they could give a subsidy for those who go to GP clinics instead of the polyclinic? -

Thank you for sharing.
You can trust our govt to hv considered this age criteria.
As the past, our population need to fast track growth of young contributing population & hence we’ve seen our authorities issuing invitations for PR applications to graduating young ppl fr our local unis (think in the 80s-90s). That’s alr targeting higher numbers of professionals.
In addition, when I was with the research institutions, we were helping to process recommendations for meeting PR thro criteria of performance & targeting the next generation. I rmbr one of our valued research doctorate was ready to accept a Japanese company’s offer to return to Beijing to head the company startup there. However, his children, having studied & made frds in SG, refused to move back to China. That was such a brilliant plan to target PRs for not just the applicant but their subsequent generation.
Amongst my PRC & other friends incl westerners, many are not able to obtain their PRs & I suspect coz they’re typically in their 50s and they’ve typically shown they’ve businesses & homes in other parts of the globe besides SG. I do not see these past 50s getting approvals for their applications & hence we shld be able to surmise the elderly (having wealth alone disregarded) are not getting PRs approved nor renewed without fulfilling the tighter criterion implemented.
I’ve also heard many accounts of foreigners (westerners & Indian nationals) lamenting their anxieties to quickly obtain SG PRs rather than later so their can build their family & wealth in SG. One reason I heard was that they do not mind pouring their wealth to park in “sought after SG PR/citizenship” rather then sought if US or European PRs/citizenships for which they’ll be surrendering >50% of their hardwork to worldwide taxes.
So, our authorities are keeping a tight reign at our border gates. Hope we can learn to relax more.
I am not aware of any current age limit set for PRs.
My suggestion is that when govt reviews their PR status come 2030, they can set an age limit say, 62yo and do a review to prevent any PR retiree above 62yo who is not contributing but who might impose a burden on our stretched healthcare system then. -

I dont know the average cost with medication of seeing a GP on cough/fu/sore throat though not related to covid. I can only claim a max of $20 for seeing a GP.

If I see a doc at polyclinic, am sure the cost will be lower and will be deducted from my salary.
Am seeing a doc at BB polyclinic in the late afternoon on bad cough, slight flu and mild sore throat. I tested twice but ART negative. I will update on the cost later.
