I don't agree with MOE's decision to remove mid year exam. They could have set the exam without giving it a high weightage. Make it a full paper anyway so schools can still stimulate the experience. Now parents must fork out $$ for this. But I also don't believe a lot of parents will pay for mock exams for all subjects.
If I have a p6 child taking PSLE this year, I will sign up for these mock tests too. This is the batch whereby mid year exams were scrapped and they had little exam practice starting from P5. My child had such mock test for one of the subjects and I thought it was an experience. The setting was like actual exams and parents waited anxiously outside the auditorium for their children to finish paper. Center later also provided stats on how your child performed vs the cohort. Guess this is what most parents were hoping to know so that they have a gauge of their child prior to actual exam. But if we can have the mid years back, actually in my opinion, such mock tests are bonus but not necessary.
Centre can only provide such stats if the number of students taking the mock exam in THEIR centres is huge, like thousands. Otherwise such stats are meaningless and misleading.
It is just easy money for the centres. If I run a centre, I would also run such mock exams. Easiest money to make. -
Just take some past years’ mid-year exam papers and do them at home under timed exam conditions, on your own, FOC.
The problem is, sometimes the answer keys are of dubious quality. In such cases, consult school teacher for correct answer. -

Agree! That is what I will do. $130 for one mock paper is daylight robbery. -
Don’t think we will ever do that. Doing own revision is sufficient. Our cases will likely just providing data to the statistic as a whole.

in advance doesn't really help, and too close to the exams might cause too much stress. All you need is an \"average\" standard mock paper and a timer. No need to pay $130. -
No need to waste $130, daylight robbery. Just do your own revision, practise any RGPS / Rosyth / Catholic High / Nan Hua / Taonan past year papers, will do.
