SINGAPORE - The number of primary school pupils applying to secondary schools through direct admissions continues to rise steadily, said the Ministry of Education’s (MOE) director of schools.

There were 31,800 applications from 12,200 pupils in 2022, with 3,900 eventually receiving offers, Mrs Tan Chen Kee said on Saturday at The Straits Times Smart Parenting post-PSLE webinar.

This is up slightly from 2021, which saw 31,400 applications from 12,100 pupils, of whom 3,800 received offers, she added.

Applications rose significantly between 2018 and 2019 with the introduction of the centralised DSA portal, from 18,000 applications in 2018 to about 29,000 applications in 2019. This increase in applications has been sustained, with 30,500 applications in 2020 and 31,400 applications in 2021.10 Jan 2022

Has she been called up for interviews/auditions from the other schools? I'm sure your DD will get multiple COs 😄
Thanks! I hope so! Njc is the last one for audition next week. Interview/ auditions have been done for other 3 schools. For information, I counted 40 pupils for mgs music test in the room.

If (Nanyang Girls High / NJC)
                or
Methodist Girls' Secondary schools were to offer your daughter

either a CO or a Wait list,
                via \"String ensemble\" talent domain,

she will have to decide, for herself :-

is it 6 years (A-level or IB) different curriculum path, that she wants ?

When we submitted the DSA application, we selected IP for MGS, which provides both IP (6 years) and Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate Program (SEC, 4 years).

Erm…I don’t think so, unless you selected “no preference” for either track.

Sorry! I mean MGS provides both options, and then we selected \"IP\".

MGS has 2 track, available : O-level and IB.

When u select \"IP\", it means that u are specifically asking for \"IB\", only. So, MGS will not consider you for the O-level track.

However, if you had selected \"No preference\",
                        then,

MGS will consider you for both (IB + O level). That's the difference, between choosing

                        \"No preference\" vs. \"IP\".

For (ACSI / SJI / MGS), their definition of IP is actually refering to \"IB\".
