Undeniably NGHS attracts top students, but some may prefer others due to CCA, sch culture, parents influence, etc.
But with AL6 can enter Nanyang Girls which goes to HCI JC cuz Nanyang Girls cut off non-affiliated is 4(D) - 7(D)? -
There were students with 260+ (in T scores day), chosen O level track, not even from IP schools, from ordinary school instead. From school finder you can see some neighbourhood schools has AL4 /AL 5 students. Not all students strive for elite schools/path even they qualify comfortably. Some that make it and chose to study in top schools, It’s may not be a big deal to them to leave after 4 years for overseas education.

What are the other 2 schools?
Received MGS too but SEC (Olevel). The other 2 DSA schools offering IP. Which one to choose?
Wondering if SEC is easier then next time if get good results for SEC can go back to IB ACSI or even if results not good then can go to international schools for IB?
Or should not take the risk and just accept school with IP seeing that preparing for PSLE is also very tiring. But then again prefer to take IB than A levels in the future cuz don't want to put all stakes into 1 A level exam but the thought of preparing for SEC in another 4 years also tiring. Sigh -

Cos it’s less stressful and less competitive overseas? If parents can afford an overseas education, these girls who are already brilliant get even more opportunities to shine. They also get to graduate a year earlier in some cases, and still get into the top universities.
Why r they leaving RGS since they already worked so hard to get accepted to top gals school n JC? -
Btw in case some are wondering this overseas “escape route” is only for girls. SC boys still need to come back & serve NS before commencing Uni. Mindef only grants exit permit for studies up till pre-U.

I had friends who went overseas immediately after Os to do foundation studies.
Other posters can correct me.
Long long ago, before IP, many top students can score very well in O levels and some disappeared, to better lands after. So then someone came up with IP and skip O (can keep more at home, only speculation...lol)
I have not research abt it but I heard that O levels can open opportunities overseas definitely. Depending on which country and unis. some have bridging pre entry. Good luck!
Reason for doing so is that foundation studies took 1 year only. They entered Uni earlier, and it was easier to get the course they wanted (Vet). -

SCGS and Nanyang but most likely not keen on Nanyang anymore as Chinese is her weakest subject. In any case, she hasn’t gotten the offers for these 2 schools yet.
What are the other 2 schools?
Just asking in advance as got the MGS offer today n she said she thinks she performed the worse in MGS DSA but who knows cuz it’s just what she said and thinks and she might get rejection from the other schools. But all this while wondering why some ppl chose O level over IP/IB when they get AL6 or better so I guess it’s to keep overseas options open if parents can afford it. -

Other reasons why some may choose O levels over IP when their PSLE scores can qualify:

- IP schools are too far when there is a really convenient school that they like right by their door step
- No ESIS for AL6 even if one goes to IP school and the fees are considered a bit too much compared to Express school nearby
- the AL6 was unexpected. Kid always scored worse. So parents/kid not confident kid will continue to do so well and may crumble under stress if join IP school
- Always prefer O levels as it is more structured and scoring AL6 or not is irrelevant
- Have not decided whether to do A levels or IB so stay in Express will give kid another 4 years to decide
- think it is better to be top of a school than to join IP and be the bottom of cohort.
All above are based on true stories. -
Dear all, if affordability is a consideration for IP schools. For independent schools with $400/month sch fees, aren’t there financial assistance which the family can apply for with the school?
Wonder if there is any FAS and what’s the household income requirement for these IP schools?
