      Thank you.
:scared: Wow in this case it really limits the choices of secondary schools.. for AL18 example, out of 3 nearby schools only 1 has Express COP 13-19. And AL18 doesn't fall in the range of Normal for other 2 schools either. =(

That means we will know the child AL score results then select the 6 choices of schools based on their COP?
Hi momoj, i have sent u a PM.

Under old system my niece qualified for NA but she opted for NT. That was why I formed the impression students have the choice to downgrade stream. Her score must have placed her in the “NA or NT” category. Thks all.

hi,my twins didn't have maths tuition throughout pri school but both got AL1 for psle. I would say do not be just dependent on the questions the school set. I gave my kids throughout the year many many top schools exam papers to do to give them exposure to a variety of questions so that whatever the psle qns they throw out, at least my kids will at least have done something similar before and will not panic. But with 1 mth left before psle, not sure if it is too late to do that now.
It would be good to practise past 8 years actual PSLE papers and to compare the marks achieved by your child in his school prelim exam, against the marks he got from other school prelim exams papers and actual PSLE standard exam papers. You will know the difference once you have compared these 3 examples.

            Hi,
Does anyone know how the COP works if the AL score doesn't fall in the express nor normal range?

            For example school A:
            Express 4-15
            Normal 21 to 24
            Child's AL score 18

Does that mean that the child cannot get into school A even for Normal?

            Thank you.
If the child qualifies for Express stream eg: AL 20 and below, there is NO OPTION to choose NA Stream. This is a factual info that many misunderstands. DO NOT Listen to hear say. There is no option for NA Stream if the child qualifies for EXp. AL System, Only AL 21/22, there is an Exp/ NA Option. Aka: G3/ G2 Option.

Yea it makes me wonder too, to get into a lower COP express school, score lower which means higher AL to fit into the same school of NA stream.
As parents, I believe we have to teach our children the right values. What would our children learn if we were to tell them to score lower in exam, not put in your best performance or no need to work so hard? In long run, children would develop wrong mentality and habits when engaging in any task. Then it would be harder for us parents to tell them otherwise by then.

My personal take would be, to still work towards PSLE with the objective of getting ready for sec school demands in any school. The child would still have to take another national/promo exam in a few years time. More importantly with a few weeks left is to spend time with him while he do practices, making good memories for him to keep with parents being supportive and cherish him no matter what happens. These memories will go a long way in future when he prepares for another exam and by then, he is likely to be on his own, bearing all the struggles inside him. Hopefully he will remember the happy times he spent with parents for PSLE and give him strength he needed to persevere through.

Also, knowing that there is no need to go after every half or one marks if the child has done his best, his time could better be spent going cycling in the park after some work is done, building stamina and strength. More important is the process. Once child start sec sch in Jan, PSLE will be almost forgotten (if we allows).

It is exciting for the kids to move on to sec school actually. So much to look forward to. Choosing their CCA, leadership role in class and later in school. Waking up on their own and making their way to school on their own. Becoming independent, is what is amazing, seeing them change. We hope we can make it a wonderful experience instead of making it a nightmare.

There will always be tricky questions. I suggest dun dwell too long on what could have been. Faster move on to the remaining subjects. All the best to a productive weekend!

Heard the same feedback. Well, it’s one out of four components, so let’s stay focused and tackle the rest.
